Why I picked up a dress-style room wear even though I'm not a fan of dresses

I've never been a fan of dresses that fall straight down from the shoulders, and for room wear in particular, I usually chose pants-style items instead. Part of it is probably that this shape just doesn't suit my body type—when I wear one, my hips end up looking bigger, and my range of leg movement feels restricted. As a result, almost all the room wear I own is separated into tops and bottoms.

One reason someone like me chose this dress is that, in the wake of the infectious disease that has been causing a stir in society these past few years, I now change into room wear much more often. Sweatshirt-like separate room wear is convenient too, but it means more laundry, and it doesn't dry as easily—not ideal, especially in autumn and winter. I wanted something thin yet warm, and easy to use...and that's when this dress appeared. The staff planned this dress around the concept of "room wear you want to put on the moment you get home and take off your clothes". It felt exactly right for me, and I jumped at it.

I hesitated over the color, but ended up choosing the cozy BROWN. The moment I picked it up, the fabric felt wonderfully soft and supple. I loved the fabric, but what really sealed the purchase for me was the silhouette.

Rather than falling straight down, it has a slight mermaid-like shape. It's roomy overall, but apparently designed to gently follow the waistline so the body doesn't look shapeless like a straight tube. The hem flares out softly, striking just the right balance—not overly cute.

It dries quickly, making laundry easy

Since it's not a separate top-and-bottom set, one nice point is that there's only a single piece to wash. Because it's made of brushed cotton, it isn't as thick as a sweatshirt, and it dries relatively quickly.

You don't have to worry about getting it dirty at home

Thanks to having room wear that's neither outdoor clothing nor pajamas, doing housework after getting home has become much easier. If it gets dirty, I can just wash it right away without worrying about it. Another great point is that the mermaid shape makes it very easy to move around in.

If you're the type who takes a bath right after getting home, I think it's also great for making massages easier. There's no need to awkwardly roll up the fabric when putting on compression socks or massaging your legs.

I want to take it with me on trips and visits home too

The other day I stayed at a hotel, so I brought this dress along. It's not exactly compact, but since I only need to bring one piece, it's easy to pack. I'm not a fan of hotel bathrobes, and I always feel a little uneasy about how comfortable one-size-fits-all pajamas will be, so this dress came in handy as relax wear once I got to the hotel. Whether I'm staying at a hotel and taking it easy, or heading back to my parents' place to laze around at home, I'm sure I'll keep packing this dress in my suitcase.
