Do stylish people choose by color? Wristwatches with a timeless design that you can wear forever.

We live in a convenient age where a smartphone can do just about anything, so choosing an analog wristwatch anyway feels like it carries meaning largely as a matter of style.

This time, we'd like to suggest choosing a wristwatch as an accent accessory peeking out from your wrist—much like enjoying a lovely manicure, or putting on your favorite bracelet. Let's focus on choosing colors as we find your new favorite.

■ DUFA Wristwatch GROPIUS 2HANDS SET

The two hands floating within a round space create a truly chic contrast with the negative space around them. This is a DUFA wristwatch featuring a beautifully white dial case paired with a set of yellow, blue, and red straps.

These three colored straps are more than just a stylish way to switch things up. This is a special edition commemorating the 100th anniversary of the founding of the "Bauhaus," said to be the wellspring of modernism and German design.

ー What is the Bauhaus?
The Bauhaus was a German art school that once existed. In the mere fourteen years from its opening in 1919 to its closure in 1933, it sparked a revolution in design worldwide, making it a famous art school that laid the foundations of design. Nearly all modern design and architecture today has been influenced by the Bauhaus's design philosophy of "simplicity without waste, geometric and functional beauty," which quietly lives on throughout our everyday lives.

These three colors represent the primary colors advocated by the Bauhaus. When you pair a watch that ticks away time with the meticulous craftsmanship characteristic of German makers, with the three straps that each express their own individuality, you're drawn into a unique world where it feels as if you're wearing "design itself."

Being able to change the color of the strap means that owning just one watch lets you coordinate with any outfit. This is where the simple, Bauhaus-like beauty of the white dial truly stands out.

▲The index markers and logo are subtly rendered in an embossed style, quietly yet reliably fulfilling their function.

The strap design greatly changes the impression a wristwatch gives. Being able to change the strap color to match your mood or occasion is the biggest advantage of wearing this watch every day. We actually tried wearing each of the three colored straps in turn.

This is the yellow strap, which brings a bright and lively feeling. With its fresh, sporty impression, it's recommended for casual outings wearing a hoodie or sweatshirt. It works nicely as a subtle accent color and tightens up an outfit built around dark tones.

The red strap adds a gorgeous touch to your wrist. This red, elegant in tone without being too flashy, is perfect for days when you want to dress up and go out. Since it makes the pink-gold case really stand out, it looks even lovelier paired with a necklace or ring.

The calm navy strap lends a subtle presence to your wrist and creates an intellectual impression, making it useful in business settings as well. Since it's not overly assertive for everyday wear, it's a versatile color that works with just about any outfit.

At about 18mm wide, the strap is just the right thickness to stylishly incorporate the color of the leather while being enjoyable for both men and women. The case may cover the wrist somewhat for women, but its extremely simple design keeps everything in balance, so it won't feel too large. In fact, it's easy to read the time, which we recommend. Swapping straps is also easy, making this a DUFA wristwatch you'll want to choose for everyday use.

▲Pull the pin on the back with your fingernail to attach or remove the strap.

For your wrist on days you want to go out.

■ Wristwatch JANE

BREDA wristwatches are pieces you can wear like jewelry, with a true sense of accessory styling. True to their concept of "Beyond time, be yourself," every BREDA watch has a timeless design beloved across generations, one that captures the hearts of many at first sight.

The JANE series was designed with inspiration from a holiday spent by the water under gentle sunlight. The wave-like shimmer unique to mother-of-pearl shell, combined with soft, light-like color pairings, brings out a feminine charm.

Time passes equally for everyone, hurrying along without pause. And yet, when we look at a BREDA watch, a scene from a holiday somehow comes to mind, and the flow of time feels as if it has slowed down. Perhaps it's the understated hands quietly marking the time that give the wearer a sense of ease.

What makes BREDA watches so appealing is their understated yet carefully considered use of color. Take, for example, gold watches, which can easily come across as stern if not handled just right.

BREDA's gold has a gentle quality that softly suits a woman's wrist. Paired with light blue, it gains a delicate touch, evoking, curiously enough, the calm feeling of sunlight glimmering on the surface of water. And yet, wearing it alone, without any other accessories, feels completely satisfying while still lending a sense of glamour.

With its slender, jewelry-like band, small and understated hands, and a classic, timeless style featuring index markers only at 3, 6, 9, and 12 o'clock, this is a wonderful watch that's relatively easy to wear and can be enjoyed across generations. The shell dial catches the light at different angles, each one giving off a subtly different shimmer, lending a special sense that no two are ever quite alike.

Wristwatch JANE (1741a)

This silver watch carries a cool, crisp impression, but the cream color of the case softens the overall look, making it a shade that suits women of all ages. It pairs well with jackets and coats, lending an intellectual air.

Wristwatch JANE (1741b)

Gold stands out against a bright silver, accentuating a crisp, refined, adult charm. This versatile color suits business settings and dressy occasions alike, and is just as fitting for a relaxed moment spent at a café.

Wristwatch JANE (1741c)

A glamorous, feminine style. It transforms your entire look into something striking, even without a necklace. The exquisite gold blends beautifully with skin tone, making it a comfortable choice even for those who enjoy nail art.

The shell used for the dial, mother-of-pearl, comes from the shellfish that produces pearls, and has long been cherished as a charm for safe childbirth and fertility. It's also said to soothe a tired heart and draw out inner charm and gentleness, making it a wonderful, heartfelt gift.

■ Wristwatch ESTHER

For a more mature, composed, classic style of watch, there's BREDA's ESTHER series. This one features a sunray finish that sparkles and shifts expression depending on the angle of the light. This beautiful radial pattern stands out even from a distance, giving it an appeal that anyone would find beautiful, no matter who's looking.

Every part used in the ESTHER series is pure simplicity. With its square case and straight-lined index markers telling the time, the design has a sharp, intellectual look from every angle. The slim case doesn't get in the way of jacket or shirt cuffs, giving the wrist a clean look and making even the gesture of checking the time seem beautiful.

Wristwatch ESTHER (1735a)

The green dial gives a calm impression. It helps set the right tone for that all-important first impression, making it ideal for business settings. At the same time, its retro character makes it a great match for military items and vintage-style clothing.

Wristwatch ESTHER (1735b)

A design featuring a gentle, elegant gold. The color scheme, giving off a delicate impression without any hint of gaudiness, is truly what you'd expect from BREDA. It's wonderful paired with pearl accessories or bangles for a glamorous outing, or as an accent color within a coordinated outfit.

Wristwatch ESTHER (1735c)

Worn with a shirt, it transforms your wrist into that of a capable, accomplished adult. With its beautifully designed white dial, pairing it with a bracelet allows for a look that's both calm and cool, with a suppleness all its own.

BREDA watch bands are made a bit long, so some women may find they need adjusting. If you'd like the length adjusted in advance, please feel free to reach out to customer support via email.

Pairs beautifully with all sorts of leather items.

■ Wristwatch M38 BROWN

レザーバッグを持つ、レザーシューズを履く、そういう方のトータルコーディネートの仕上げにぴったりな腕時計があります。

A London-designed, Swiss-made watch in brown, with a gold second hand and case that sparkles beautifully. While there are many brands that exist as status symbols, this one is from UNIFORM WARES, a brand whose philosophy is to dare not cling to being a ”brand,” and instead express individuality through intelligent design.

Switzerland has a long history of watchmaking. Made with the cooperation of a manufacturer and skilled technicians who hold top-class reputations within Switzerland's watch industry, this watch is truly a piece that can be called top quality. Despite boasting such quality, there's something endearing about the brand's humble stance of wanting people to "wear it casually every day, like a uniform."

The dial, which has a date function, has a minimal design with no numbers or brand name. The dignity that comes from stripping away the unnecessary harmonizes perfectly with both today's and tomorrow's fashion sensibilities. Even in an era where wearing as few items as possible is considered stylish, a watch of this caliber fits in properly when worn, and instead makes your look even more refined.

Brown is a color that softens the atmosphere. It pairs well with virtually any color, and its great feature is that it doesn't limit your coordination. Among all shades, the dark brown used in this watch pairs especially well with leather items, making it easy to create a unified look. One reason for this is that it uses cordovan leather made in England.

Cordovan leather stands out even among leathers for its exceptionally high value, and its rank is said to be the finest of all. Above all, it's characterized by its beautiful sheen, making it an extremely rare and valuable leather. As you use it, the oils from your hand blend into the leather, its firmness softens, and you can feel it transforming into a strap that fits only you—a process that fills you with an indescribable sense of satisfaction. It will become a watch you can't part with, as if it had become part of your own body.

■ ARNE JACOBSEN Watch mina perhonen STATION

This watch, with its curious bumpy belt, is a Jacobsen-designed timepiece whose value only increases with each passing year. The colors used in this watch are white, red, and black—truly simple. The gray and ivory belt colors also beautifully bring out the red placed at the center of the hands, making for a gorgeous watch.

This watch is perfect for outings on your days off. Whether at a museum, movie theater, casual cafe, shopping, or waiting for a train, it has the charm of bringing a moment of comfort every time you check the time.

It has a soft atmosphere ideal for women to wear, yet is the kind of Jacobsen-designed watch that might prompt someone to say, "You have great taste." It has an understated elegance that doesn't feel like an obvious brand statement, and a reassuring quality that boosts your confidence just by wearing it.

The belt is made of corduroy, but since it pairs well with, for example, linen clothing, this is a watch you can enjoy wearing all year round. The exquisite gray and ivory give a natural, rustic impression, making it perfect for casual everyday wear like sweatshirts and cut-and-sew tops. Paired with bangles or glass accessories, it adds a touch of delicacy to create a lovely look on your wrist.

— What is Arne Jacobsen
A master known as the figure who established the prototype of Nordic modern design. Jacobsen's designs are considered a model of modern design, and continue to captivate many people even today. The "Seven Chair," "Ant Chair," and "Egg Chair," which you may have seen at least once in a museum or stylish space, are among the Jacobsen designs beloved around the world. True to Jacobsen's own words, "Don't make beautiful things, make things that are needed," his designs are characterized by careful attention to visibility and ease of use.

Among the watches designed by Jacobsen, the particularly famous series are "BANKERS" and "STATION."

【BANKERS】

"BANKERS" is based on a rare clock displayed at the National Bank of Denmark—a country known as a design powerhouse—reproduced and translated into a wristwatch. The index, which at first glance appears as a slender bar shape, is made up of 12 blocks, graphically displaying the time while drawing an elegant spiral that expresses the ceaseless flow of time.

【STATION】

As its name suggests, "STATION" is a clock featuring the highly legible Arabic index that was adopted at Danish train stations. The table clock, which uses the simplest possible Arabic numeral font so that anyone can tell the time at a glance, has now become a beloved national icon in Denmark.

This is the wristwatch version of that clock. While retaining the same at-a-glance readability that anyone can appreciate, it incorporates a clever touch: the tips of the hands are given a different color, making it "easier to read as a wristwatch."

And the strap comes in two colors, with mina perhonen's "land puzzle" design selected for the textile. This strap actually requires an extremely high level of skill to make.

The strap collages the three-dimensional patterns of corduroy like a puzzle, creating a look reminiscent of a landscape viewed from high above. Since the textile is carefully handmade by one of the few remaining Japanese artisans, the fabric pattern differs from piece to piece. In these random patterns, no two of which are ever exactly alike, you can sense mountain ranges, the rivers flowing between them, the undulations shaped by the earth, and the quiet charm of nature.

This collaboration between Jacobsen's timeless, beloved clock and a fashionable, unique strap seems to teach us how to enjoy wearing a watch.

Focusing on color and design, we've come to see that the enjoyment of wristwatches isn't limited to being a status symbol for grown-ups—it also lies in the pleasure of incorporating color into your fashion. All of the wristwatches carried at ZUTTO are selected for their timeless designs, beloved across generations. Please choose one while paying attention to color as well, depending on your taste and the impression you'd like to give.
