A patchwork pattern found nowhere else in the world—Owen Barry's specially commissioned seat pads.

Owen Barry creates fluffy, soft sheepskin items that bring a sense of happiness simply by being nearby as part of your winter interior. From interior pieces to bags and stoles, their lineup spans a wide range of items, but among them the seat pads are especially popular.

These seat pads take the chill off dining chairs in the cool mornings and evenings. This year, we asked Owen Barry to create a patchwork seat pad as a ZUTTO exclusive. Each one has its own distinct expression, making it truly one of a kind. We hope you'll find a pattern you love.

Owen Barry's sheepskin is made 100% from the wool of sheep raised for food. In Europe, where awareness of environmental and animal welfare issues is particularly high, materials derived from food production tend to receive more positive opinions than so-called "eco fur." Unlike common furs such as mink or fox, sheepskin is recognized as a material with a much lower environmental impact, since it makes use of a part that would otherwise be discarded.

Because of this, the sheepskin used as material comes in many different sizes and isn't uniform in shape like fabric. While some products, such as rugs, use a single hide as is, they are usually cut into set shapes for use, which inevitably leaves small offcuts behind. Owen Barry makes the most of these so-called scraps rather than letting them go to waste—for example, by using them as stuffing inside cushions.

We heard about this background at an Owen Barry exhibition, and it inspired us to create this patchwork seat pad.

These seat pads are made by combining small offcuts that couldn't be used as products on their own. We created two colorways: "MULTI LIGHT," combining bright shades like white, gray, and beige, and "MULTI DARK," combining darker shades like black, brown, and green. MULTI LIGHT includes some brown sheepskin pieces, while MULTI DARK includes some lighter gray pieces—these accent colors give each design an even richer expression.

If you look at the back, you'll see clearly that small pieces have been sewn together—meaning far more labor goes into completing these than a typical seat pad. Because of this, some of the shapes may be slightly irregular, but we hope you'll come to see that as part of this product's unique character.

The varying pile length and texture of the wool also make for a design that's fun to look at. This time, the pieces are sorted by pattern so you can choose your favorite, so please find the one you like best.
