Development Combining Passion and Technical Skill

Frenchman Sébastien Barrière entered the jewelry industry after graduating from university and spent 20 years designing and crafting jewelry in Europe and the United States. Over the years, he encountered women repeatedly dissatisfied with the structure of their earrings. "Is there a way to make them more comfortable?" he asked his colleagues, and after much discussion, he came up with an idea and created a prototype. The idea was to create an L-shaped post instead of a clasp. After extensive research to commercialize this structure, he eventually encountered RONDA, a Swiss company specializing in the production of watch movements. RONDA's years of experience in precision watch movement manufacturing combined with cutting machines enabled the mass production of T-shaped earrings. They repeatedly prototyped and revised the product, changing the materials used for the posts and internal micro-balls, and making micro-scale adjustments to the size of each component, until they reached the perfect finish. After a lengthy development process, they finally created a product they were proud to share with the world. After eight years of research, from conception to completion, the world's first earrings without a backing were born. Baqless was founded in Basel, Switzerland, at the end of 2018.
