Chijimi is an ancient Japanese cooling material that was created to keep you comfortable during the hot and humid Japanese summer. Biwa cotton is a fabric that has evolved to match modern clothes while inheriting such a shrinking manufacturing method.
The difference between loquat cotton and Takashima Chijimi is the twist of the yarn. Takashima Chijimi uses yarn that is twisted more strongly than usual, but loquat cotton is twisted even closer to the limit, giving it a drier feel.
Next, we use an air-jet loom that blows the weft to weave the hard-twisted yarn, but that work is also very difficult. It seems that it is not uncommon for it to shrink during weaving because it is tightly twisted. However, when you see this beautiful and stretchy fabric, you will want to use it carefully because it was made over and over again.
