Unique pattern

Kirisome was founded in 1919 in Kiryu City, Gunma Prefecture, the production center of Kiryu textiles, and the second generation, Teiji Yamazaki, worked hard to develop and pass down the dyeing techniques as a traditional craftsman in the Kiryu textile dyeing department. The reversible han-haba obi has a plain jacquard with vertical stripes on the front side. The reverse side is a reversible obi made of sheeting fabric with basket dyeing. It was made to match a dyed yukata. Kagozome" is one of the traditional dyeing techniques, which is a technique to dye a pattern in a speckled pattern by pulling the cloth between two baskets (board-like objects), and it is a dyeing technique that requires high skills to dye a beautiful speckled pattern. The way the pattern appears changes depending on the way the fabric is handled, so no two patterns are ever the same, resulting in a unique pattern.

The half-width obi is thinner than a regular obi, so it can be tied without an obijime, obiage, obi pillow, or other accessories. The material used for the obi is 100% cotton, which is unusual for an obi, so it does not slip and does not fall apart, making it easy to handle even for those who rarely wear yukata. The design is simple but elegant and never boring, with patterns on the front and back that can be recognized when you get close to it. The way the obi is tied changes the way the front and back are seen, so you will want to add more variations to the way you tie it.

Conveying the charm of hand-dyeing
Kiryu dyeing began in 1919 in Kiryu City, Gunma Prefecture. Kiryu City is known as a textile production area, and as the legend goes, "Nishijin in the west, Kiryu in the east," Kiryu textiles have a history of over 1,000 years. Even today, the textile industry is thriving in the area, with many manufacturing processes such as sewing and embroidery as well as weaving still in operation.

Kirizome began as a yarn twisting business in the latter half of the Meiji era (1868-1912), and in 1919, Seishiro Yamazaki, the first generation of the Kirizome family, moved the business to the dyeing industry. Since then, the dyeing factory has been engaged in not only color dyeing of silk yarns but also in various dyeing processes such as fabric dyeing and product dyeing to meet the needs of the times. The company has changed its name to Kirizome since 2014, and is now conveying its desire to convey the charm of hand-dyeing through its original brand.
