Trends come and go, and clothing is particularly reflective of this phenomenon. However, the desire to use something for a long time, the attachment to beloved items, and the comfort they provide cannot be fully explained by the ebb and flow of fashion.
In response to these feelings, the brand SETTO, born from a textile manufacturer in Kojima, Okayama, views clothing as a long-term partner and continues to create honest garments. This time, we introduce a long coat with a big silhouette that envelops the body.
Relax your shoulders and effortlessly throw it on
This coat features a rounded silhouette with drop shoulders that exudes a gentle femininity. Crafted from soft, thick cotton twill without a lining, it can be worn lightly and is perfect for the chilly early spring through to autumn and early winter.
A distinctive design feature is the gun patch on the left chest. Originally a detail found on shooting jackets, it adds charm to the design. The front placket is crafted with a hidden button closure, allowing for a neat appearance that balances casual vibes with a polished look.
The back hem includes a center vent, ensuring ease of movement despite its long length. The collar can be fastened all the way up with a hook, or you can leave it open to enjoy pairing it with accessories like a scarf.
Available in two nuanced colors, light gray and beige, both offer a calm tone that blends easily with other colors, making them highly versatile. The natural-looking BEG pairs beautifully with white denim for a monochromatic outfit or can be combined with vibrant patterns for a more striking look. It works well in a wide range of styles, from menswear-inspired outfits to charming ensembles.
The key to fabric creation is "cotton"
With a background as a fabric manufacturer, SETTO researches and develops blends of high-quality cotton from various countries. They spin original yarns tailored to the characteristics of cotton from around the world. The original yarn, which maximizes the benefits of cotton, connects to a commitment to the textile's aging process and presence.
Attention to detail is evident in the production process, where carefully selected cotton is spun into yarn, and the rotation speed of a machine part called a cam is adjusted in 0.1-second increments to create a unique texture with depth. Cotton, being an agricultural product, can vary in quality from year to year, but efforts are made to fine-tune it to achieve a consistent quality texture.
Clothing that becomes your partner
SETTO continues to create comfortable clothing with the expectation of long-term use. Launched in 2014 by Japan Blue Co., Ltd., a textile manufacturer known for supplying materials to domestic and international brands, it is based in Kojima, Okayama.
Kojima, now referred to as the holy land of denim, was once an island in the Seto Inland Sea. The land, created by reclaiming shallow waters, became a hub for cultivating cotton, which is more resilient to salinity than rice, leading to the development of the spinning industry. Since before the war, as Western-style clothing began to gain popularity, the area produced student uniforms and jeans. After the war, with the American workwear and jeans booms, Kojima became a representative production area for jeans. Japan Blue Co., Ltd. has continued to create fabrics for casual wear in Kojima, a place with such a rich history, enabling them to produce convincing and valuable clothing.
The unique aspect of SETTO is that they view material development as part of design, focusing on yarn, fabric, color, and shape based on the know-how gained from textile planning and sales. They consider clothing as a long-term partner, continuing to create garments that cherish the essence while discovering joy and excitement in everyday life.

Kurashiki and Kojima, also known as Denim holy land, are lands originally created by draining shallow water. As a result, cotton cultivation, which is more salty than rice production, is popular, and the spinning industry develops. I worked on jeans from before the war, and after the war, the work wear boom in the United States, and the jeans boom, became a representative production area of jeans.
The characteristic of SETTO is that the development of materials is also considered as design, and it is based on the know-how obtained in planning and sales of textiles, and it is stuck with yarn, fabric, color and shape. We regard clothes as a long-term partner and continue making clothes that value the essence while finding surprises, discoveries, and pleasures in our daily lives.
