In such a rainy scene, we asked them to make an elegant umbrella that adds a touch of color. Based on the popular thin-rolled long umbrella from wakao's lineup, we chose two check patterns to order. Unlike other wakao long umbrellas introduced at ZUTTO, the silhouette when opened is a gentle curve.

The base is basic, but the color scheme gives a sense of individuality. It goes well with monochrome clothes, and the multi-colored check pattern makes it easy to pick up the colors of colorful clothes, so you won't have to worry about matching it with any outfit.

"Kasa Kobo Wakao" was founded in 1938 by umbrella craftsman Sadamasa Wakao.

At that time, Tokyo was the main production center of umbrellas. From cutting the fabric to stitching, framing, attaching the handle, and finishing, these umbrellas are carefully made by skilled craftsmen.

The base of the [Special Order] Tartan Check Slim Long Umbrella is a classic long umbrella that is already popular at wakao. The elegant silhouette and light weight when closed are achieved by making the center pole 8mm. To match the atmosphere of the umbrella, the handle is also made of slender bent wood and is decorated with a tassel that sways every time you move.

Wakao offers plain umbrellas, but ZUTTO has specially ordered a check pattern. Instead of the classic check pattern, we chose a slightly unusual combination that will catch your eye. The silhouette is beautiful even when closed, and it is slender and lightweight, making it easy to carry. It comes with a cover, which is rare for a long umbrella, so it can be neatly organized even indoors. The number of craftsmen who manufacture umbrellas in Japan has decreased significantly, and they are mostly young, in their 50s. There are also very few successors. Nevertheless, the delicate craftsmanship unique to Japan, and the important task of making umbrellas, which sometimes need to be repaired due to bad weather, are treasures that should be passed down without interruption and with great care.
