Spring Court’s J2 BLACK ORGANIC COTTON is a unisex model inspired by the brand’s iconic Spanish-made “G2” and the timeless Mary Jane silhouette. While classic in form, this pair exudes a light, sophisticated mood.
Thoughtful comfort in every detail
Featuring an open design with an adjustable strap, the J2 offers a secure, supportive fit. The upper is crafted from OEKO-TEX® Standard 100-certified organic cotton canvas, known for its soft, lightweight texture. Along with the material’s natural breathability, Spring Court’s patented “ventilated sole structure” keeps feet dry and comfortable throughout the day. The removable insole makes it easy to maintain and keep fresh.
The contrast between the natural-colored outsole and the black upper creates a refined look that complements both casual and modern styles. Made entirely vegan without the use of animal-derived materials, it’s a shoe that aligns with contemporary values. With its timeless design and airy comfort, it’s a versatile pair you’ll reach for every day.
“Shoes with a spring in their step”
Spring Court is a French footwear brand founded by the Grimmeisen family, who mastered the art of combining rubber and cotton canvas. Their shoes rose to prominence as clay-court tennis shoes, beloved for their functionality and comfort.
The brand’s story begins with Théodore Grimmeisen, a barrel maker who established a factory in Paris in 1870. His son became fascinated with rubber’s properties while seeking greater watertightness for barrels. Later, Théodore’s grandson Georges Grimmeisen developed fully waterproof rubber and created the Colibri boots—lightweight, waterproof footwear that replaced the heavy wooden clogs once worn by farmers.
In 1936, tennis enthusiast Georges introduced a groundbreaking tennis shoe made with cotton canvas and rubber soles under the name Spring Court. Using a vulcanized sole for durability and stability, and breathable canvas for lightness, the design quickly became a favorite among professional and amateur players alike. The name “Spring Court” was inspired by the remark that players seemed to “bounce across the court on shoes with a spring.”
By the 1960s, Spring Court had transcended the tennis world to become a fashionable everyday shoe. Though the brand briefly withdrew from the market, it was revived in 1990. Today, Spring Court continues to uphold its original craftsmanship and silhouette, blending timeless French design with modern sensibilities—each pair still made by hand.
