NORLENDER

MITTON

A symbol of the Norwegian winter

the mittens crafted by the Norwegian factory NORLENDER are more than just winter gear — they bring an instant feeling of warmth and comfort the moment you slip them on.

With traditional knitting patterns passed down through generations and carefully crafted wool textures, these mittens are tools for everyday life that also seem to gently wrap around your heart.

Used day after day, their warmth becomes something familiar — a quiet joy you can feel each time you wear them.
They are not only for yourself, but also a heartfelt gift for someone dear — a way to share a piece of Norway’s gentle winter with those you care about.

Authentic Norwegian Design for Everyday Life

The first thing that catches the eye is the design — geometric snowflakes and floral motifs known in Norwegian as the “Selbu pattern.”
This traditional Nordic motif originated in the small village of Selbu in Trøndelag, central Norway, in the 19th century, and is now considered a true symbol of the Norwegian winter.

Mittens decorated with this pattern are called “Selbu mittens.”
Their slightly angular silhouette not only makes them durable but also highlights the snowflake design in a beautiful, crisp way.

The colors — serene BLUE like quietly falling snow, BLACK like the soft shadow of winter forests, and RED reminiscent of the warm light glowing in Norwegian windows — each reflect the quiet beauty of Nordic life and nature.

Warmth Born in a Land of Cold

Made from 100% pure wool, each pair of NORLENDER mittens is carefully knitted by skilled artisans.
The wool traps plenty of air between its fibers, effectively blocking cold air while keeping your hands comfortably warm from body heat.

Light and flexible, they allow easy hand movement — ideal for walking to work or cycling on chilly mornings.
They embody the wisdom of people who have lived through the long, harsh Norwegian winters — a dependable companion for the cold season.

Today, gloves that allow fingertip movement are common, yet when the real cold sets in, nothing compares to the warmth of traditional mittens.
By enclosing your fingers together, they retain heat more efficiently — a timeless design loved for both its simplicity and effectiveness.

A Heritage Factory Weaving Norway’s Nature and Tradition

NORLENDER was founded in 1927 on the island of Osterøy, in western Norway.
What began with founder Ola Tveiten and a single knitting machine has grown into a family-run factory that has supported Norwegian life for over 90 years.

Starting as a small workshop, the company began full-scale knitwear production after World War II.
In 1989, embracing both traditional Nordic designs and modern sensibility, it was reborn as the brand NORLENDER.

Today, it remains one of the few textile factories still operating in Norway — handling every step of production domestically, from spinning Norwegian wool to knitting and sewing at its own factory overlooking the fjords.
Their skilled craftsmanship and respect for traditional motifs continue to bring the beauty of old Norway into modern life.

NORLENDER

NORLENDER

NORLENDER is a family-run knitwear factory that was founded in 1927 on the western Norwegian island of Osterøy. The manufacturing that founder Ola Tveiten started with a single knitting machine has been a part of the lives of the Norwegian people for over 90 years. Now, as one of the few textile factories still standing in Norway, NORLENDER produces everything domestically, from raw materials to finishing. Norwegian wool is spun domestically, and knitted and sewn in the company's own factory overlooking the fjords. Cherishing the intricate knitting techniques of skilled craftsmen and the beauty of traditional patterns and details, NORLENDER continues to create products that convey the scenery and culture of good old Norway to the present day.
