Originally, the representative, Mr. Uotani, was involved in the development of knit fabrics such as socks, but from there, he had a growing desire to "incorporate knit fabrics into more of our lives," and he decided to further study the technology and design of knitting. Then, his desire to develop original products grew, and he started this brand.

TRICOTÉ proposes colorful items that make daily life more enjoyable by incorporating the possibilities of a single thread into textiles. We create a variety of knit items, paying special attention to the unique technology of looms that have been in use for 40 years, cherishing the texture that cannot be achieved with new machines and the few remaining rare looms.

Using knitting machines that match the items, we produce a wide range of items, including scarves, socks, clothing, bags, hats, and miscellaneous items that add color to your life. For example, the scarves made by TRICOTÉ are made using a jacquard machine made by Bentley, a British company that has been in use for 40 years. Although the loom can only read paper data, in order to make use of the texture that can only be achieved with vintage looms, we have taken the trouble to modify it so that it can read digital data, giving a sense of our commitment to knitting original fabrics that cannot be produced with new machines.

Or, we use a machine called a cross-lace machine, which makes tapes and fringes, to create original strings, and we deliberately use modern knitting machines to knit gloves in order to improve the balance between the shape and pattern. In this way, by combining different types of yarn and knitting, the possibilities for textiles are endless, resulting in a unique manufacturing process that combines technology and design.
