Vlas Blomme's ruffled stand-collar dress is crafted from a brushed cotton and linen twill fabric, with striking small ruffles on the stand-up collar, evoking the look of an antique linen shirt.
The comfort of lightweight brushed twill
This twill fabric, woven from a cotton-linen blend, has a soft, warm texture thanks to a surface-raising treatment. It's lighter than it looks, and feels gentle against the skin. The 55% linen/45% cotton blend combines the breathability of linen with the softness of cotton, ensuring a comfortable layered look. The separate ruffle section is made of 100% linen, creating an appealing detail with the varying textures of the fabric.
The stand-up collar is adorned with a delicate ruffle. The ruffle makes a statement and adds a touch of elegance to the face, even when layered with a fall/winter knit or jumper skirt. The bottom button on the front closure is concealed, creating a streamlined look when worn closed. Wearing it open allows for a different look, creating a two-way look. The relaxed width and generous gathers under the back yoke create a soft, feminine silhouette.
Buttons at the cuffs give the hands a neat look. Practicality is ensured with convenient on-seam pockets on both sides for everyday wear. The slits at the hem allow for ease of movement and a light feel. The perfect length makes it easy to balance with bottoms, allowing for a variety of styling options, such as layering it over pants, or pairing it with leggings or tights.
This ruffled stand-collar dress combines reliable quality, carefully tailored in Japan, with an antique-inspired design. The dainty ruffle at the collar and the warm texture of the brushed twill add a touch of softness to your everyday look.
Discovering Kortrijk Linen
Vlas Blomme was launched in 2007. The brand name means "linen flower" in Flemish, the language of the Flanders region of Belgium. They develop natural and fashionable clothes using linen from Kortrijk, Belgium, which has flourished as the center of the linen industry for several centuries, and the products they have created after searching for high-quality linen are sold in top-level stores around the world, such as London, Paris, and New York.
Linen is water-resistant, and the more you wash it, the softer and more textured it becomes, as the threads become thinner than cashmere. The more you use it, the deeper the flavor becomes, and it becomes a part of your daily life. We were looking for the finest linen that would fit into such a lifestyle, and we found Kortrijk linen from Belgium. Kortrijk linen is a general term for the flax thread that is considered to be the best of the year, grown on the farm of the Belgian linen spinning factory JOS VANNESTE. A lot of linen has been grown in the Flanders region of Belgium since before Christ, and the Leie River, known as the "Golden River," flows through Kortrijk, and has played an important role in the linen manufacturing process. The mild climate with moderate rainfall is beneficial for linen cultivation, and they continue to steadily produce varieties that take advantage of the geographical advantages.
Kortrijk linen, whose quality has been maintained through many years of know-how, is known for its fine fibers and high quality. As a natural fiber, it has a simple appearance, and is durable and shiny. Compared to cotton and silk, it has excellent water absorption and dissipation properties, a smooth texture, and is gentle on the skin. Colt Lake linen, which is also the raw material for Irish linen, is highly regarded in Europe as the world's top quality linen.
