The cotton used is a blend of American and Australian cotton, characterized by its dry texture. By intentionally leaving small neps during spinning, the fabric develops a subtle textured surface, giving it a natural look. During the weaving process, the yarn is strengthened on a rapier loom, increasing the overall strength of the fabric. This results in a durable texture that will stand the test of time. This is a durable cotton fabric with just the right amount of firmness and thickness.

Furthermore, to preserve the natural texture of the fabric, the pants are dyed without mercerizing, creating a natural yet elegant look. A special resin treatment adds firmness, makes them windproof, and they're tailored to retain their shape even after washing.

The design was inspired by the silhouette of an umpire's waist. They feature a large gusseted pocket, reminiscent of a spare ball. The elastic waist provides a relaxed fit, and an internal drawstring allows for size adjustment. These pants are comfortable and can be worn all year round.

Contrary Manufacturing

Jackman is a factory brand originating in Fukui Prefecture that carries on the spirit of Mitsugu Tanabe, founder of Tanabe Meriyasu. Driven by his admiration for postwar American baseball, he quit his job at the Fukui Prefectural Government, overcoming opposition from those around him, to set up a factory. The business began modestly, with just three flat knitting machines in a single eight-tatami room.

Founder Mitsugu Tanabe's passion for American baseball led him to initially only produce stockings, but as a baseball fanatic, he later expanded into uniforms and gloves. The company grew to the point where it provided training wear for the Japanese Olympic team at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics. And that passion continues to guide its manufacturing today.

Jackman's sewing factory, which dates back to the days of Tanabe Mokko Seisakusho, has been in business for over 60 years. In addition to modern sewing machines, the factory also uses Union Special and REECE machines, required for specialized sewing, and is constantly repaired in the factory's repair room. The distinctive specifications, born from Tanabe's ideas, have been perfected over the brand's long history.
