When did our admiration for cashmere begin?
Perhaps it was the moment we realized that its elegance and delicacy make it a refined indulgence for adults. As we grow older and our senses sharpen—allowing us to choose “what we truly love” and “what truly suits us”—we also begin to recognize the things that feel right to own. Cashmere is one of those things that calls to us at that point in life.
The cashmere we introduce at ZUTTO is crafted for modern women who value a graceful balance of quality, design, and price—a cashmere knit for everyday sophistication.

This time, we are pleased to introduce an entry item from our Mongolian Cashmere Series: the Mongolian Cashmere Smart Touch Gloves.

Everyday Luxury

Although cashmere may seem too delicate for daily wear, we believe that wearing cashmere not only on special occasions but even on ordinary days is what brings true everyday luxury. With that in mind, we created these gloves to be an item you can reach for day after day.

At first glance, they look like simple gloves, but the thumb and index finger are open for easy smartphone use and precise handling of small objects—making them highly functional. The ribbed knit gently conforms to the hands and fits comfortably on the hands of Japanese women. They extend to the wrist, blocking cold air from creeping in through the sleeves of your coat. The wrist can also be folded for a cute styling accent.

A Material with Natural Functional Beauty

Why is cashmere considered such a precious material?
Let’s take a closer look. Cashmere comes from the soft undercoat of cashmere goats living in regions such as Mongolia, China, and Iran—mountainous areas with extreme temperature fluctuations. To survive harsh winters that can reach minus 30°C, cashmere goats grow a layer of coarse outer hair, while beneath lies a layer of long, fine, and incredibly soft undercoat.
These fibers are collected only in spring during the natural molting season by combing, and each goat yields only 150–200 g of this precious fiber. Because of this rarity, cashmere is sometimes called the “jewel of fibers.” But its charm lies not merely in scarcity—it has exceptional qualities:

Ultra-fine fibers that minimize irritation.
Cashmere fibers measure about 14–16 microns, compared to 25–30 microns for most wool. The fineness creates micro-layers that trap air, providing excellent insulation while remaining light and thin.

Long Mongolian fibers for superior durability and sheen.
Mongolian cashmere averages over 40 mm in length—6–8 mm longer than standard cashmere. Longer fibers create a smoother surface with natural luster, resist pilling, and maintain beautiful appearance over time. Longer fibers also reduce production waste, helping keep final costs in check.

Natural oils that create a soft, silky texture.
Cashmere naturally contains oils that coat the fibers, giving it its signature smoothness along with excellent moisture absorption and warmth retention.

In addition, cashmere’s natural elasticity gives the fabric softness, beautiful drape, and strong resilience. With proper care and rest, cashmere items keep their shape and can be cherished for many years.

Cashmere Born from Mongolia’s Nomadic Traditions

For Mongolia’s nomadic families, cashmere goats are part of their everyday lives—moving together like members of the family. Preserving traditional nomadic ways is essential to raising goats in a low-stress environment.
Through a meaningful connection, we were able to create knitwear using Mongolian cashmere. The fibers are purchased directly from herding families and knitted in a Mongolian factory that is a member of the Sustainable Fibre Alliance (SFA), an organization supporting sustainable cashmere production in Mongolia and China.

This alliance monitors sustainability and traceability, works to reduce environmental impact in goat farming and related factories, upholds animal welfare, promotes fair labor and employment practices, prevents child labor, and protects traditional local communities.
