NOVESTA is a shoe brand born from a manufacturer with decades of shoemaking experience in Slovakia, Eastern Europe. Its history of producing military sneakers worldwide attests to its durability and quality, ensuring these shoes stand the test of time.

NOVESTA's MARATHON CLASSIC sneakers are based on a classic model dating back to the 1960s. The current version is modeled after the training shoes used by the Czechoslovakian marathon and race walking team at the 1988 Seoul Olympics.

The upper combines polyester with leather, creating a design that looks stylish even on adults. While reminiscent of traditional sports shoes, its ease of pairing with modern fashion is perhaps the skill of NOVESTA, the original shoe manufacturer with a long history of crafting sneakers and rubber shoes.

The Original Eastern European Shoe Maker

NOVESTA began in 1939 when Jan Antonín Bata, founder of the Bata Group, built a factory in the small town of Partizánske (located in what was then Czechoslovakia, now central Slovakia) to produce rain boots and sneakers. This area later developed into the renowned BATA Industrial Park. NOVESTA eventually became Slovakia's largest shoe factory in this location, and from the 1950s onward, it was commissioned to produce military trainer shoes for countries worldwide.

Specializing in rubber and canvas products, the factory persevered through the historical influences of World War II, the Cold War, the socialist era, and national division. It consistently produced purely Slovakian footwear from its founding, including military, work, rubber boots, and running shoes. In 1992, following the split of Czechoslovakia, NOVESTA emerged as a pure Slovakian sneaker brand, having established itself as a leading European factory over its first half-century.

Committed to quality, NOVESTA has built a production system meeting high environmental and social standards. Nearly all products are crafted from carefully selected natural materials like natural rubber, cotton, and linen. Ninety percent of the sneaker-making process, achieved through the vulcanized method, involves handmade work by skilled artisans. NOVESTA stands as one of Europe's few factories continuously striving for sustainable manufacturing that is gentle on the global environment.
