The RHOMBE Earth series from Lyngby Porcelaen features a calming earth tone that adds a gentle expression to your dining table, distinct from white porcelain. The soft hues reminiscent of soil and stone in nature enhance the presence of your dishes without overpowering them, seamlessly blending into your daily meals. The symmetrical relief pattern creates shadows that subtly change with the light, giving even everyday dishes a refined appearance.
Named "RHOMBE," which means diamond shape, this series is a reimagining of an archive design from the 1960s. The rim features delicate reliefs that radiate outward from the center, reminiscent of an artichoke. The understated yet elegant form conveys functional beauty, making it timeless and suitable for continued use. In the Earth series, this iconic relief stands out with a depth of color different from white, creating a more three-dimensional effect.
Simplicity and Beauty
The color palette of the Earth series consists of natural tones such as Marble, Clay, Moss, and Slate, which do not compete with the colors of your dishes but instead highlight the allure of the materials themselves. These colors have been chosen by the Copenhagen-based design duo Stilleben, who have collaborated with Lyngby Porcelaen to thoughtfully interpret the brand's shapes and reliefs through the element of color. Notably, this series does not offer the same four colors across all sizes; instead, colors are selected according to the size and purpose of the dish, creating a natural rhythm without monotony when the series is combined.
The dinner plates are available in two sizes: 21cm and 23cm. The 21cm plate is perfect for serving breakfast toast or as a larger side dish for everyday meals. The 23cm dinner plate is ideal for main courses like meat or fish, as well as for pasta presentations. Its size allows for easy plating that takes advantage of negative space, making it a natural choice for gatherings or when you want to elevate your table setting. Both plates have a wide rim, ensuring that even smaller portions look well-presented, giving a polished impression with minimal effort. They make excellent gifts for cooking enthusiasts, whether for birthdays, weddings, or housewarming celebrations. They can be combined within the same series or paired seamlessly with classic white, adding depth to your table decor.
Lyngby Porcelaen products are produced not only in Denmark but also in Portugal, Germany, Thailand, and China. The manufacturer’s representatives carefully select production facilities with the appropriate techniques for the shapes, materials, and glazes of the products, even changing production sources for the same series based on glaze differences. Each piece is crafted with care, inheriting the methods from the brand's founding, ensuring the high quality of Lyngby Porcelaen products through this meticulous approach to craftsmanship.
"Pure Functional Beauty"
Founded in 1936 in Kongens Lyngby, north of Copenhagen, Lyngby Porcelaen is rooted in the pioneering Danish ceramics company "Holst & Knudsen," established in 1904. At that time, ceramics were imported from major manufacturers in Central Europe, but in the early 1930s, the near halt of inexpensive German porcelain imports prompted the establishment of their own factory. Strongly influenced by the rationalism and functionalism of the Bauhaus movement, which embraced simplicity and functionality while rejecting unnecessary decoration, the brand provided a fresh impression with designs that incorporated these ideals, contrasting sharply with the decorative ceramics that were mainstream at the time.
The factory was closed once in 1969 but resumed production in 2012. With "pure functional beauty" as its brand concept, Lyngby Porcelaen merges traditional craftsmanship with advanced production techniques, creating new products that faithfully reproduce past archives while inheriting the brand's DNA.

Lyng by Porcelaen was founded in 1936 as a porcelain maker in Conges Lunview, Copenhagen. In the early 1930s, when the import of cheap German porcelain was almost stopped, the factory was set up in-house, and it was a simple design that eliminated unnecessary decorations created from the rational and functionalist ideas of the Bauhaus movement. Strongly influenced by the idea that functional things are beautiful, the design incorporates the idea of simplicity and functionality and made a fresh impression on many people. They still carry on the beliefs of the time, combining traditional craftsmanship with advanced production technology under the brand concept of "pure functional beauty" and inheriting the faithful reproduction and DNA of past archives. We are creating new products.
