The RHOMBE Earth series from Lyngby Porcelaen features a calm earth tone that adds a gentle expression to your dining table, distinct from white porcelain. The soft hues reminiscent of soil and stone in nature enhance the presence of your dishes without overpowering them, seamlessly blending into your daily meals. The symmetrical relief pattern creates subtle shadows that change with the light, giving even everyday meals an impression of careful presentation.
Named "RHOMBE," meaning diamond shape, this series is reconstructed from archive designs of the 1960s. The rim features delicate reliefs that radiate outward from the center, reminiscent of artichokes. The understated and refined form exudes functional beauty, allowing it to be used continuously without being influenced by trends. In the Earth series, this iconic relief stands out more vividly with depth of color that differs from white, creating a more three-dimensional appearance.
Simplicity and Beauty
The color palette of the Earth series consists of natural tones such as Marble, Clay, Moss, and Slate, which do not interfere with the colors of your dishes but instead enhance the inherent charm of the materials. These colors have been selected by the Copenhagen-based design duo Stilleben. Stilleben has collaborated with Lyngby Porcelaen in the past, carefully interpreting the brand's shapes and reliefs through the element of color. When set together in the series, they create a natural rhythm without becoming monotonous.
This mug, with a size perfect for everyday use, is ideal for a milky café au lait or soup. Not only can it be used individually, but when combined with plates and bowls from the same series, it creates a cohesive dining experience. It makes a wonderful gift for cooking enthusiasts, perfect for birthdays, weddings, or housewarming celebrations.
Lyngby Porcelaen products are produced not only in Denmark but also in Portugal, Germany, Thailand, and China. The manufacturer’s representatives carefully select and determine the production locations based on the appropriate techniques for the shapes, materials, and glazes of the products. Even within the same series, they may change production locations due to differences in glaze. Each piece is crafted with care, inheriting the methods from the company's founding, ensuring the high quality of Lyngby Porcelaen products through this dedication to meticulous craftsmanship.
"Pure Functional Beauty"
Founded in 1936 as a porcelain manufacturer in Kongens Lyngby, north of Copenhagen, Lyngby Porcelaen traces its roots back to "Holst & Knudsen," a pioneering Danish ceramics company established in 1904. At that time, porcelain was imported from major manufacturers in Central Europe, but in the early 1930s, the import of inexpensive German porcelain nearly ceased, prompting the establishment of their own factory. Influenced by the Bauhaus movement's rationalism and functionalism, which emphasized beauty in simplicity and functionality by eliminating unnecessary decorations, the brand provided a fresh impression to many, contrasting with the decorative porcelain that was mainstream at the time.
Although the factory was closed in 1969, production resumed in 2012. With the brand concept of "pure functional beauty," Lyngby Porcelaen merges traditional craftsmanship with advanced production techniques, creating new products that faithfully reproduce past archives while inheriting their DNA.

Lyng by Porcelaen was founded in 1936 as a porcelain maker in Conges Lunview, Copenhagen. In the early 1930s, when the import of cheap German porcelain was almost stopped, the factory was set up in-house, and it was a simple design that eliminated unnecessary decorations created from the rational and functionalist ideas of the Bauhaus movement. Strongly influenced by the idea that functional things are beautiful, the design incorporates the idea of simplicity and functionality and made a fresh impression on many people. They still carry on the beliefs of the time, combining traditional craftsmanship with advanced production technology under the brand concept of "pure functional beauty" and inheriting the faithful reproduction and DNA of past archives. We are creating new products.
