NICOLAS LAINAS began in 1952 when founder Alexandros opened a small shoe repair shop in Plaka, near the Acropolis in Athens, Greece. In the eastern part of Greece, where the word "sandal" originated, traditional shoe and sandal making has been practiced for generations. Alexandros fled from war in Turkey to Athens, where he worked as a shoemaker for 10 to 20 years before becoming independent. He believes that happy shoemakers create happy shoes for wearers, focusing on stabilizing the lives of his employees and fostering a strong sense of compassion for people and the planet. Originally a small shoe shop, NICOLAS LAINAS gained popularity with exports to Italy in 2011 and has since become a four-generation shoe brand.
