Arne Jacobsen, the master who established the archetype of Nordic modern design. Inspired by the white city of Bellevue, a limited edition model has arrived from the masterpieces of Denmark's 20th-century architect and designer. This table clock is a limited-quantity model available only at select stores. Its body, unified in shades of white to gray, embodies Jacobsen's design philosophy.
Bringing world-class design closer to you
"STATION" is a clock featuring highly visible Arabic numerals, adopted by Danish railways in 1943. While collaborating with Laurits Knudsen on a table clock project, Arne Jacobsen created a design featuring the simplest Arabic numerals for maximum legibility—a clock anyone could read instantly. This design earned high acclaim, leading to its selection for Danish railway stations. It became a national icon in Denmark, a country renowned worldwide for its design excellence.
Dedicated to the White City of Bellevue
As a child, Jacobsen is said to have painted over the Victorian wallpaper in his bedroom. Even at that young age, his sense of unifying a space in "white," rejecting colorful decoration, was extremely avant-garde for the time. This foresight would later lead to his creation of "The White City."
The ARNE JACOBSEN Table Clock STATION Bellevue is a limited edition model paying homage to this architectural complex. Designed by Jacobsen in the 1930s for Bellevue Beach in northern Copenhagen, the resort buildings are characterized by their white exteriors, functional composition, and distinct Cubist forms, making them iconic symbols of Danish Functionalist architecture.
The ARNE JACOBSEN Table Clock STATION Bellevue draws inspiration from the white plaster seen in the "Bellevue Apartments" within the White City, adopting the brand's first matte white case. The dial and hands are also unified in the same white, creating a serene and refined impression. Furthermore, referencing the grayish-white ceramic tiles used in the 1937 Texaco Gas Station, it achieves both visibility and depth through a soft contrast of white and gray.
This design, imbued with architectural beauty within its monochrome palette, changes expression depending on light angles and placement, imparting a quiet rhythm to the space. Placed in an interior, it anchors the room with a dignified presence without being overly assertive. It embodies the "harmony of function and beauty" Jacobsen pursued throughout his life, blending seamlessly into modern living as an art piece.
Arne Jacobsen, Master of Danish Design
Arne Jacobsen was one of Denmark's most influential architects and designers of the 20th century. He is known as the father of Danish design, having established the prototype for today's modern Nordic design. Chairs designed by Jacobsen, such as the "Ant Chair"—the world's first chair with an integrated seat and backrest featuring a three-dimensional curved surface—the beautifully lined "Seven Chair," and the "Egg Chair" with its gentle curves that envelop the body, continue to captivate people to this day.
ROSENDAHL, dedicated to preserving and nurturing Denmark's traditional design heritage, acquired the manufacturing rights for the Jacobsen Clock—a true Danish treasure—and launched a revival project committed to faithfully restoring the original design. Acquiring rare existing original clocks, ROSENDAHL invited designer Tate Villant—one of the successors carrying on the late Jacobsen's legacy—to oversee the project, realizing this collaborative production.
