The down used in this coat comes from "Japan Duck". It is Cherry Valley duck down sourced from trusted farms within Japan. Raised carefully as high-quality meat ducks, they are reportedly given approximately twice the rearing period compared to cheaper ducks from overseas. This results in Japan Duck's signature feature: fully matured, large, high-quality feathers rich in warmth and elasticity. They are raised freely in clean water, clean flooring, and an environment with good sunlight and ventilation, fed without the use of chemicals. This level of quality is only possible because every step, from breeding to feather cleaning, is done entirely within Japan.

This down jacket features a design suitable for formal occasions, avoiding the typical puffy silhouette. It comes with a matching fabric belt. Over a thousand years, it washes away water-soluble minerals, emerging as low-hardness soft water, nearly devoid of minerals, flowing into the Ise Plain where the factory stands. Furthermore, dry winds blow down year-round after the rains have fallen on the mountains of the Odaigahara Mountains. It is said that the water flowing through the Ise Plain and the dry, low-humidity climate are essential for thoroughly cleaning the fine details of the feathers. KWD (Kee-Daw-Dee) is a brand born in 2021 from Kawada Feather, a specialized feather manufacturer. Since its founding in 1891, Kawada Feather has long been involved in creating products that leverage the unique properties of feathers, such as feather pens, feather dusters, and hamaya (devil-warding arrows). In the 1970s, the company studied down expertise in the United States and became one of the first in Japan to begin producing down jackets. Today, based at its factory in Meiwacho, Mie Prefecture, it remains a top-tier domestic down specialist manufacturer, continuously dedicated to improving feather quality.

One of Kawada Feather's defining characteristics is its commitment to making down visible. Because down is an invisible material, it can be easily misrepresented for quality, leading to an increase in poor-quality down being mixed in recent years. Issues like falsified product labeling and the inclusion of unclean, heavily soiled feathers have become serious problems. It was against this backdrop that KWD (K-W-D) was launched, born from the company's desire for customers to experience the superior quality of their own feathers firsthand.
