The "bag" you use for your everyday outings is different from clothing that you can enjoy mixing and matching every day; it also has an aspect that makes you want to use it more and more. MARVELETS offers bags that make you want to ask, "Where did you get that bag?" These luxurious bags embody the delicate craftsmanship of a designer nurtured in Paris, along with a vintage military vibe.
The MOFIN S features a large opening for easy access and can accommodate A4-sized items, making it a great choice for commuting or school. With its 2-way design, you can carry it as a tote or a backpack, making it convenient for train commuters. (For a larger size, check out the L size here.)
Increases in Character with Use
At first glance, the waterproof paraffin canvas 2-way backpack MOFIN S looks like a tote bag, but a closer look reveals straps on the back for easy carrying. The main storage area has a large opening, allowing for smooth access to bulky items like jackets. Although it has depth, there is a zippered compartment on the back side, making it convenient for storing tablets and valuables. The opening also features a brass clasp, ensuring that even if you add more items, the contents remain less visible. Additionally, the shoulder strap is removable and can be stored inside the bag by detaching the hooks on the bottom, allowing you to carry it neatly as a tote bag depending on the occasion.
The surface of the canvas fabric is treated with a waterproof paraffin finish, making it resistant to rain and dirt while also giving it a vintage military feel as if it has been used for many years. Furthermore, hand-set rivets, typically used in vintage denim, reinforce the handles and shoulder straps. Every detail has been meticulously crafted, reflecting MARVELETS' commitment to quality. Unlike many canvas bags that tend to be stiff, the MOFIN S has a pleasantly relaxed feel right from the start. Enjoy using it as your everyday bag and appreciate the deepening character it develops over time.
Incorporating Beliefs Cultivated in France into Bags
The founder and craftsman of MARVELETS, Shuji Mitsuda, was influenced by his mother, a couture designer, and worked as a fashion designer in Paris, France. During that time, a visit to a senior designer's bag factory unexpectedly exposed him to the allure of leather and the fascinating process of crafting it, which later inspired him to start MARVELETS. Unlike clothing, which typically goes through many hands before completion, bags can be dyed to the desired color and almost entirely handcrafted by one person, which is a captivating aspect. Drawn to this charm, Mitsuda moved to Okayama Prefecture, where he could focus more on bag production, and thus MARVELETS was born.
"Things that deepen in character over time" and "things that fade yet grow more cherished." This is the concept of craftsmanship that Mitsuda envisions. Europeans are known for valuing and using things for a long time, understanding that their worth increases over time. The bags designed by Mitsuda, influenced by this European culture, reflect a unique sensibility that is timeless yet one-of-a-kind.
Mitsuda oversees everything from pattern making, sewing, dyeing, to finishing, with all critical parts done by hand in MARVELETS bags. Additionally, the brand is committed to using natural materials and vegetable-tanned leather that reveal the power of nature over time, combining leather with materials like hemp and wool, and applying a finishing process based on an original recipe. This exquisite blend of long-cultivated sensibility and craftsmanship results in bags with a unique texture that exudes an antique-like atmosphere, characteristic of MARVELETS.

MARVELETS started in 2006. Shuji Mitsuda, who was active as a fashion designer in Paris, France, was shocked by the charm of leather and the fun of processing, which was the reason for the brand. Mr. Mitsuda, who plays the roles of craftsman and designer alone, creates one prototype by doing all of the patterning, sewing, dyeing, and finishing with his own hands. Leather is procured at the initial stage called "crust" before Nume leather, and in general, the part that Tanner does is done by himself and made into the particular leather. All the production process is done in Japan, and all the important parts are done by hand. MARVELETS bags are made by combining natural materials such as linen and wool in addition to leather, and finishing with original recipes. By doing so, the unique texture of MARVELETS is born, which gives it an antique atmosphere.
