In 1902, founder Riccardo Mantero started a small shop dealing in silk products in the silk-producing region of Como. This marked the beginning of "MANTERO," one of Italy's oldest tie and scarf manufacturers. With the abundant water resources of Lake Como, its quality is renowned, and it has a rich history of working with prints and scarves for major European fashion houses.

With over a century of history, MANTERO has an archive of scarves from collections of Paris and Milan maison brands, and its silk dyeing techniques are world-class. Many fashion designers visit MANTERO's factory to learn from its history, making it almost like a museum. The entire production process, from thread to fabric to finished product, is carried out in-house, with visual inspections at each stage ensuring strict quality control. The clean environment of the factory is unexpected for a textile manufacturer. Employing over 100 designers and around 300 staff, MANTERO supports the industry in the Como region, contributing to society through its employment activities and producing scarves for global maison brands in its large-scale factory.

To date, MANTERO has crafted over 60,000 designs. While the typical number of colors achievable in silk screening is 12, MANTERO's technology allows for up to 36 colors. The scarves are finished so beautifully that the reverse side does not appear as such. The rolled edges are of just the right thickness and are hand-stitched, minimizing the risk of fraying, which reflects MANTERO's commitment to high quality.
