Development Combining Passion and Technical Skill

Sebastien Barrière, a Frenchman, entered the jewelry industry after graduating from university and spent 20 years involved in jewelry design and production in Europe and America. Throughout his career, he repeatedly encountered the dissatisfaction of women with the structure of earrings. "Isn't there a way to make them more comfortable?" he pondered, engaging in discussions with colleagues until they arrived at a single idea and created a prototype. This idea involved a structure where the post bends into an L-shape instead of using a catch. To bring this concept to life, they conducted extensive research and eventually encountered RONDA, a company specializing in Swiss watch movement manufacturing. Utilizing RONDA's long-cultivated precision in manufacturing watch movements and cutting machines, they achieved mass production of the T-shaped design. By changing the materials of the post and the internal micro balls, as well as adjusting the sizes of each part at the microscopic level, they went through numerous prototypes and revisions to perfect the product. After a long development process, they confidently created a product ready for the market. After eight years of research from conception, the world’s first catchless earrings were born. Baqless was launched in Basel, Switzerland, at the end of 2018.
