Design Inspired by Nature

Matador, a brand that started in Boulder, Colorado, in 2014, was inspired by founder Chris Clearman's observation of people sitting on their jackets and thick blankets on dew-soaked grass in a San Francisco park. He thought that if there were a compact, packable mat that could be taken anywhere, people could relax more easily. This led him to start making blankets in his garage at home, eventually creating a waterproof blanket that fits in your pocket.

Leveraging his experience as a product designer, Chris began to create travel and outdoor items he loves, and Matador has grown into a brand of ultra-light travel gear. Through numerous travel experiences, Chris has recognized the importance of reliable travel products.
