The brand's history dates back to 1853 when the Cuthbertson brothers' ship, en route to Melbourne, was blown off course by strong westerly winds and landed in Hobart. The family settled on the island and began a shoe business, which was later taken over by John Blundstone, who moved from England. As Tasmania developed, Blundstone continued to create boots for those working on farms and job sites. Even today, as a synonym for Chelsea boots, the focus on work and safety shoes remains unchanged.
