The Pioneer of Eastern European Shoe Manufacturing

NOVESTA began in 1939 when Jan Antonin Bata, the founder of Bata Group, built a factory in the small town of Partizánske, located in what was then Czechoslovakia and is now central Slovakia, to produce rain boots and sneakers. This area later developed into the renowned BATA Industrial Park, known for its shoe factories. Over time, NOVESTA became the largest shoe factory in Slovakia and began receiving orders for military trainers from around the world after 1950.

Specializing in rubber and canvas products, the shoe factory has consistently produced pure Slovak footwear, including military, work, rubber boots, and running shoes, despite the impacts of World War II, the Cold War, the socialist era, and national division. After the split of Czechoslovakia in 1992, NOVESTA emerged as a pure Slovak sneaker brand, gaining recognition as a leading factory in Europe over its half-century of existence.

Committed to quality, NOVESTA has established a production system that meets high environmental and social standards. Almost all products are made from carefully selected natural materials such as natural rubber, cotton, and linen, with 90% of the sneaker manufacturing process being handcrafted by artisans through the vulcanization method. NOVESTA continues to be one of the few factories in Europe dedicated to sustainable production that is gentle on the planet.
