The spring water used comes from Mount Fuji, where rain and snow that fall on the mountain seep into the ground, filtered over a long period of time before bubbling up. Because there are few substances that cloud the dyeing process, the colors are incredibly vibrant.

The fabric is made from 100% polyester, which excels in quick-drying and is resistant to wrinkles, meaning the umbrella dries quickly, contributing to its longevity. The durable frame is constructed with eight sturdy ribs, ensuring it can be enjoyed for a long time.

Founded in 1866, Makita Shoten began by selling silk fabrics in Osaka, Kyoto, and Tokyo. After the 1950s, with the spread of synthetic fibers, they established their name as a major production hub for umbrella fabrics using the techniques cultivated in pre-dyed weaving, which is unparalleled. Makita Shoten also produces fabrics for the long-established umbrella manufacturer Maehara Koeki Shoten, showcasing their 150 years of history in fabric making and artisan skills.

The most distinctive feature of Makita Shoten's parasols is that they are made by a fabric manufacturer, with original production carried out consistently from fabric design, weaving, to umbrella manufacturing. While preserving the spirit of traditional craftsmanship, Makita Shoten's umbrellas have continuously evolved with the acquisition of technology from abroad and the introduction of new equipment. By using electronic Jacquard weaving machines that allow for unrestricted design, they treat the warp threads as a canvas and the weft threads as paint, resulting in umbrellas that weave various patterns.

In a domestic market where about 90% of products are imported, Makita Shoten insists on domestic production, carefully crafting each umbrella using the elegant Koshu weaving technique.
