The main body is made from shrink nylon that evokes vintage military nylon from the 1980s and beyond. The fabric is woven from taslan-treated yarn and undergoes a salt-shrink process, resulting in a surface with fine creases that offers a soft, cotton-like feel while maintaining the lightweight nature of nylon. With a matte texture that minimizes shine and a natural wrinkled appearance, it is less prone to showing creases from packing or folding, making it easy to handle without worry. It also features weak water resistance, so you won't have to panic over sudden light rain or splashes.

The vertically elongated silhouette accommodates A4-sized documents and 500ml PET bottles. The gusset is a foldable type, allowing it to lay flat when carrying fewer items and expand into a three-dimensional shape when filled. It’s the perfect daily size that can be easily carried around and can handle extra purchases on your way home.

The handles consist of two leather parts of different lengths. The longer handle is ideal for slinging over your shoulder to keep your hands free, while the shorter handle is perfect for carrying by hand. Using the shorter handle gives the bag a more compact appearance, creating a cute impression. The leather parts feature MARVELETS' unique over-dyeing (product dyeing), which deepens in color over time, subtly changing the contrast with the nylon.

Bringing French Principles to Bags

Shuji Mitsuda, the founder and creator of MARVELETS, was influenced by his mother, a couture designer, and worked as a fashion designer in Paris, France. During a visit to a senior designer's bag factory, he was struck by the allure of leather and the fascinating processes involved, which later inspired him to start MARVELETS. Unlike clothing, which typically goes through many hands before completion, bags can be dyed in the desired color and nearly finished by hand, offering a unique charm. Drawn to this appeal, Mitsuda moved to Okayama Prefecture, where he could dedicate himself more to bag production, and thus MARVELETS was born.

"Things that deepen over time" and "things that fade yet grow dearer" are the concepts behind Mitsuda's approach to craftsmanship. Europeans understand the value of using things for a long time, which enhances their worth. The bags designed by Mitsuda, influenced by this European culture, reflect a timeless yet unique sensibility.

Mitsuda personally oversees all aspects of pattern making, sewing, dyeing, and finishing, with all critical parts done by hand in MARVELETS bags. Additionally, he is committed to natural materials and vegetable-tanned leather, combining leather with materials like hemp and wool, and applying a unique finishing recipe. The exquisite interplay of long-nurtured sensibility and skill results in bags with a distinctive texture that exudes an antique-like atmosphere, unique to MARVELETS.
