We want you to feel closer to the fish caught in the rich seas of Aomori. This desire led to the creation of the Aomori Sakana Sake Cup Set. Featuring motifs of representative fish from Aomori Prefecture such as tuna, sea bream, flounder, and mackerel, this set includes sake cups made from specially blended colored glass.
The small, rounded cups showcase different colors and expressions for each type of fish, adding a lively touch to your dining table just by being displayed. These cups are perfect for enjoying sake even more deliciously when paired with Aomori's local seafood specialties.
Make Your Drinking Time More Enjoyable
Each cup has a unique color and shape that corresponds to the different fish, allowing you to enjoy the distinct character of each one. The charm lies in being able to savor the differences in sake flavors as if you were tasting them side by side. Choosing a cup based on your mood or the accompanying dish becomes part of the enjoyment of your evening drink.
The transparency of the glass beautifully enhances the sake, and the colors that shimmer with every light are striking. Despite their small size, you can feel the warmth of the artisan's craftsmanship every time you hold them.
Additionally, since they come in a decorative box, they make an excellent gift for sake lovers. These cups, which evoke the sea of Aomori, are perfect as souvenirs from your travels or seasonal gifts.
Warmth of Glass
The origin of Tsugaru Vidro dates back to 1949 when the manufacturer, Hokuyo Glass, began producing fishing floats. The floats blown by Hokuyo Glass gained a reputation for their superior durability compared to others, achieving the highest production volume in Japan by 1973. Subsequently, utilizing techniques such as "soragaki" developed through years of float manufacturing, they began creating handmade glass that evokes the nature of Aomori, leading to the birth of Tsugaru Vidro in 1977. "Soragaki" is a technique where molten glass is attached to a blowing pipe, and air is blown from the opposite side to shape it. While it allows for free-form shaping, it also tests the skill of the artisan.
Another characteristic of Tsugaru Vidro is its lustrous colors. The elegant hues reminiscent of Aomori's nature are carefully blended by the artisans. Tsugaru Vidro, created by artisans who continue to strive for new techniques, has been designated as a traditional craft of Aomori. These glass products possess a vibrant charm while also exuding a certain rustic presence. Their beauty is one you want to admire forever, seamlessly blending into everyday life.
