This summer, due to the recent extreme heat, it seems that preparing for the heat will be more essential than ever. While using air conditioning is a must, we also want to be mindful of energy conservation. Additionally, it is important to find a balance in our daily lives with proper ventilation to refresh indoor air and privacy solutions to protect our personal space.
In this context, what we want to prioritize is living comfortably without strain. Why not incorporate some ideas to gently cool down the indoor temperature while enjoying a pleasant breeze? In this order event, we will introduce the "shade," which softens sunlight and creates a cool space while allowing air to flow.
Creating a Comfortable Shade Inside with ichiori shade
The shade is an item that, when installed on the outside of windows, softens the strong sunlight entering indoors and helps to suppress the rise in perceived temperature. The ichiori shade, crafted by Ichikawa Orimono Factory, features a unique weaving technique that allows light permeability and excellent breathability.
Rather than relying solely on air conditioning, it is becoming increasingly important to utilize natural elements to soften external heat and allow airflow, keeping indoor temperatures as comfortable as possible.
The ichiori shade aims to replicate the gentle dappled sunlight of nature. The soft light spilling through the gaps in the leaves and the pleasant shadows swaying in the breeze create a soothing atmosphere, providing a moment of relief even on hot days.
Thanks to its transparent design, the shade does not completely block light but rather diffuses it. It maintains a natural brightness without becoming too dark, creating a comfortable shaded area.
Additionally, it serves as a soft barrier against outside views. You can protect your privacy on balconies or near windows while maintaining a light and airy space without feeling cramped. (The level of transparency varies depending on the color.)
This shade is also useful in various situations:
- To hide laundry drying on the balcony
- To help keep indoor temperatures from rising too much
- To prevent strong direct sunlight from hitting plants and create gentle shade
- For heat protection when children are playing in the garden or on the balcony
- To provide shade for balcony plants
Easy Installation
Step 1
The installation hardware specifically for sashes is included. Insert it into the top of the aluminum sash window frame as shown in the photo, and gently and securely fix it in place with screws at two points using a Phillips screwdriver.
Step 2
After installing the other side in the same way, hook the grommet holes on the shade body onto the brackets on both sides.
Step 3
Tie the installation rope to the two grommets at the bottom of the shade body. The other end of the rope should be secured to the balcony railing, wooden deck, or a heavy potted plant. The key to a neat installation is to pull it taut enough to avoid being blown by the wind.
