The scorching sunlight of summer can be harsh. Once you step indoors, the well-functioning air conditioning can make you feel a bit chilly, and as soon as you go outside, beads of sweat start to form. The high humidity of a Japanese summer makes it particularly challenging to regulate body temperature. Carrying a jacket for air conditioning can be cumbersome, and when walking outside, your hand holding the jacket may start to feel sweaty. As our clothing becomes more minimal, we prefer not to carry large items that add to our load. That’s where the compact and portable packable cardigan comes in handy.

ZUTTO has previously released the packable transformation cardigan in various materials, and this time, we’ve created a cardigan that feels comfortable and doesn’t constrict by changing the fabric of the body and sleeves. The packable cardigan is convenient for carrying. When you think of "packable clothing," you might picture sporty attire, but what we present here is an elegant summer cardigan with beautiful draping that dispels that image.

Light and Airy Touch

The cotton high-gauge jersey packable transformation cardigan features a unique dolman design that connects the back and front. The back has a V-neckline, creating a sense of openness. Below it, there are tucks that, combined with the dolman sleeves, create a beautiful drape on the back. Although the rounded silhouette uses a generous amount of fabric, the lightweight and thin material keeps it from looking bulky, maintaining a smart appearance. The overall body is designed to be roomy around the sides and waist, while the slim sleeve cuffs create a nice contrast, ensuring a balanced and neat look. Even when worn over short sleeves, the dolman sleeves prevent bulkiness at the cuffs, providing a comfortable fit.

Another significant feature of this cardigan is its packability. There’s a storage pocket on the inside of the back, allowing you to fold it lengthwise to match the size of the pocket, placing the back side facing up. After folding it down from the neckline, you can tuck it into the pocket, resulting in a size that fits comfortably in both hands.

The material used is a high-gauge jersey fabric gently knitted from fine cotton, developed in collaboration between an Italian spinning company and a Japanese textile trading company. The fabric, finished with a special process, has an airy texture that allows for excellent breathability and a moderate level of sheerness. This cardigan distinguishes between the body fabric, which is jersey, and the sleeve fabric, which is ribbed. Although both use the same cotton material, the ribbed fabric has a high degree of stretch, allowing for a more comfortable and stress-free wear. It feels pleasant against the skin, and its soft touch will likely lead to frequent use.

For this collection, we offer two basic colors that are easy to wear daily: NAVY and BLACK. The draping gives an elegant impression, but the jersey material keeps it casual, making it a versatile item that pairs well with denim and sneakers for a relaxed look, or can be dressed up with smart pumps for outings.
