The Soft Texture of Baby Camel

This sweater is made from baby camel wool. Baby camel refers to the hair of camels that live in the Gobi Desert of Mongolia, specifically from the first six months of their lives. Growing up in harsh cold and dry conditions, this wool contains rich oils, resulting in a plump and supple texture. It is a material that balances softness against the skin with excellent thermal insulation.

The method of knitting from the body to the cuffs in one continuous piece minimizes seams, creating a smooth line. With a relaxed silhouette, it is designed to be easily incorporated into everyday outfits. The shorter length allows for layered styles, showcasing inner garments from the hem. Basic inner layers in white or black are great, but pairing it with patterned or textured materials like ribbed fabrics is also recommended.

A Unique Atmosphere Created by Hand

The brand's origins trace back to a boutique that started in 1978. Initially, it was a store selling purchased clothing, but in 1983, it shifted to a policy of manufacturing all products in-house, establishing a factory behind the store and launching the original wear brand "FACTORY."

Starting from a single sewing machine, the brand grew as more members joined, and by 1990, in pursuit of greater originality, they began sourcing materials overseas and established a dyeing workshop. Continuing their commitment to meticulous clothing production, they developed a creative process that now encompasses planning, material development, manufacturing, and production all in-house.

All design patterns for FACTORY are created in their design studio in Tokyo. Staff with experience in collection brands and practical pattern making create shapes through three-dimensional cutting, and after numerous sample sewings, they produce unique garments that are "not bound by trends and comfortable to wear" and "simple yet a bit unique." Based on the patterns created, garments are produced in their own factory located in Ashikaga City, Tochigi Prefecture. They take pride in their meticulous approach, handling not only cutting and sewing but also dyeing processes for products and raw materials in their on-site dyeing factory. This style of production embodies the essence of Ashikaga, a region historically skilled in textile manufacturing, reflecting its atmosphere in the garments.
