Tawashi is a Japanese traditional scrubbing brush made from the fibers of windmill palm. It is created to remove dirt and stain from kitchen utensils, to sweep and sometimes to wash canvas items. Soft tawashi from windmill palm
Traditional Tawashi is made from windmill palm, which is widely native to southeast Asian countries. The tree has hairy fibers that would be the material for Tawashi. The fibers have excellent elasticity and high resistance to water. Hence Tawashi has been utilized for various tools.
TAKADA uses the windmill palm harvested in Wakayama Prefecture, Japan. The distribution of the windmill palm from the area is so limited.
