Necklaces are said to be the first adornments worn by humanity. They were made by tying together plant vines and animal tendons, adorned with natural materials found around us, such as shells, animal bones and tusks, bird feathers, coral, seeds, and stones. Initially, they served as tools for prayer, meant to protect from disasters, wish for successful hunts and bountiful harvests, and to pray for happiness. Over time, as techniques in metalworking, polishing, and glass crafting developed, necklaces gradually evolved into glamorous decorative pieces sought for their beauty.
Using beads developed over 10 years
The Diane necklace features a design that combines half Tila beads and twist beads. The V-shaped design stylishly enhances the neckline of shirts, and when paired with a turtleneck, it makes a striking statement. The V shape rests just below the collarbone, drawing the eye upward, making it a balanced choice even for petite wearers.
"Tila beads" are a unique type of bead developed over a decade by the manufacturer MIYUKI. This entirely new bead features a flat shape with two holes, expanding the design possibilities for bead decorations. The Diane necklace uses rectangular half Tila beads, which are half the size of the square Tila beads. The design, made possible by the two holes, combines horizontally arranged half Tila beads with vertically used twist beads, creating an interesting visual effect. The clasp is an easy-to-use hook type, finished in an antique style. The color of the clasp is also adjusted to match the bead colors, showcasing meticulous attention to detail. There are also Diane earrings available in the same color, so be sure to wear them as a set.
There are four color options available:
- White
Bright silver with a glossy finish, paired with matte white twist beads. The beads that secure each row are gold, adding small yet impactful details. The white color combination stands out beautifully against various outfits.
- Gold
A calm antique-style gold that can appear reddish or iridescent depending on the angle, complemented by twist beads with a metallic frost finish that offers a subtle matte shine.
- Black
The half Tila beads are a bluish-black, while the twist beads are shiny black. This is the most subdued color option among the four, making it versatile and easy to match with any outfit. The silver clasp provides a nice accent when viewed from behind.
The beauty achievable only through handcrafting
FALBE uses tiny glass beads known as "seed beads," which shine when light passes through them, measuring just 1.5mm in diameter. These seed beads are created by melting glass, blowing air into it to form a tube, and then cutting it into small pieces. They are colored and processed to create the final product.
Creating beads in a variety of colors requires a skilled artisan, as slight adjustments can lead to variations in color and cutting. The beads, colored by blending dye with the bead material, resemble small gemstones that beautifully express intricate patterns.
The origin of beads is ancient, known as one of the first adornments used by humanity. Additionally, beads have served as tools for ancient people to offer prayers to nature. At FALBE, each bead is handcrafted with the intention of not only being used as glamorous decorations for dresses and clothing but also to be enjoyed by many in their daily lives.
Delivering brilliance from Japan
The production of glass beads in Japan began in the early Showa period. MIYUKI, the manufacturer behind FALBE, started its full-scale production of glass beads in 1949. FALBE was created with the desire to not only decorate dresses and clothing but also to introduce beads to a wider audience. While beads are also produced in the Czech Republic, China, and India, Japanese beads are known for their well-defined shapes, brilliance, vibrancy, and high quality, making them top-quality in the world, highly valued and used by many global designers and brands. MIYUKI continues to produce beads recognized worldwide, based on a long-standing tradition of reliable craftsmanship, providing bead accessories that bring joy to each customer.
