Simple, basic knitwear never fails to capture people's hearts.
ALAN PAINE knitwear is made from Geelong Wool, considered the finest lambswool. Lambswool is wool shorn from sheep aged 6-7 months. Its fibers are finer and softer than regular wool. Geelong lambswool, considered the finest lambswool, is shorn from lambs in the Geelong region of southwestern Australia. Compared to regular wool, it is exceptionally fine and delicate, and harvesting is limited, making it a premium material with a soft, gentle feel. Its ability to trap a lot of air results in a warm, lightweight finish.
Geelong lambswool is spun by combing raw fibers on a carding machine, allowing the fibers to cross each other, resulting in a fluffy, soft appearance. This exquisite Geelong lambswool knitwear boasts a smooth, high-quality appearance, allowing you to dress it up or down. It's also known for its anti-static properties.
Soft and smooth, Geelong lambswool
The simple and elegant GEELONG LAMBSWOOL sweater features a basic V-neck design that highlights the material and its comfortable fit. While production has now moved to Madagascar, the high quality and accessible wardrobe integration of this sweater remain unchanged, using yarn sourced in the UK and traditional manufacturing methods.
The sweater is knitted to match each pattern (front, back, sleeves, etc.), resulting in a beautifully defined stitch and silhouette, and a beautifully fitted body and sleeves. The sweater is hand-linked for a comfortable fit. The brand's trademark soft texture comes from washing its sweaters daily in natural spring water containing lime, which has passed quality inspections at the factory. To ensure durability, underarm areas, where stress is most prevalent, are reinforced with handrails. The factory maintains strict quality control, requiring products to pass four intermediate inspections before final inspection.
A long-established knitwear manufacturer that continues to pursue the finest materials and stitching
ALAN PAINE's predecessor, "Paines of Godalming," was founded in 1907 by William Paine in Surrey, England, a county with a long history in the wool industry. He began knitting cable knit sweaters using a hand loom he found in his home warehouse. Riding the trend of sports fashion, his sweaters became widely popular among men and women who enjoy sports. In the 1920s, the company began incorporating the "club colors" of popular British club teams in boat racing, tennis, and cricket into the necklines of its sweaters. This cable knit caught the eye of the future King Edward VIII, and his knitwear became popular not only in London but throughout the UK.
After World War II, in the 1950s, the company expanded into the US with funding from the British government, and began producing sweaters for well-established brands that epitomize American classics, including those favored by successive US presidents. It was around this time that William Paine's son, Alan Paine, took over the business and changed the brand name to its current name, "ALAN PAINE." Celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2007, the company continues to produce high-quality knitwear to this day.
