The first item created by Matador is this pocket blanket. Matador is a brand that started in Boulder, Colorado, USA in 2014. The brand was started when founder Chris Clearman saw people sitting in a park in San Francisco with their jackets and thick blankets spread out on the grass wet with morning dew. He thought that if he had a compact, packable mat that he could take anywhere, he would be able to relax more easily, so he started making blankets in his garage. He completed a waterproof blanket that fits in his pocket.

After that, he used his experience as a product designer to select materials and gimmicks to create his favorite travel and outdoor items, and Matador grew into an ultra-lightweight travel gear brand. From his many travel experiences, Chris has realized the importance of travel goods being reliable, and he always puts all his effort into designing long-lasting products, such as testing them in the natural environment of Boulder, including mountains and rivers.
