This cotton fabric is made from Peruvian Pima cotton, said to be the original strain of extra-long-staple cotton still existing in the world today. What makes it so exceptional is not only its rarity—accounting for less than a few percent of the world's cotton production—but also the traditional, labor-intensive process by which skilled artisans carefully hand-pick the cotton, judging its condition as they go.

The extremely long cotton fibers give the fabric a smooth surface and uniform fineness. This results in a beautiful sheen and a fabric that holds up consistently through repeated washing.

A Challenge Toward Sustainability

The handkerchief color is an assortment, so it's a surprise until it arrives.

Q: It's quite unusual for leggings to come with a handkerchief, isn't it? What was the reason and thought behind pairing them with a linen handkerchief?

Actually, the material we used this time was fabric scraps left over from ZUTTO's original wear. It's a really high-quality fabric with a soft-wash finish, so I had been thinking about how I might be able to reuse it somewhere.

The first idea that came to me was to make a linen handkerchief. But that alone felt a bit lacking, so I thought it would be nice if it could become a lovely package suitable as a gift, too. Something anyone could wear regardless of who it's given to, that wouldn't lose its shape when wrapped… With the thought of pairing it with, say, free-size leggings, I put together this set of the two items.
