It's been three years since we started making original parkas at ZUTTO. We're delighted that they've been well received every year, with customers telling us, "I'm so happy—there aren't many parkas out there that adults can wear and still look put together!" So this year, we've made another parka.
These days, when we find ourselves wanting to dress in more comfortable pieces, our in-house designer and I got to talking, and decided to try something: "Let's keep the design of the dolman sleeve parka we've offered so far, but update it to focus even more on comfort."
The "ease of wear" we thought about here means
1. Updating the pattern to eliminate any feeling of tightness and reduce the bulkiness caused by seams
2. Updating to a fluffier, softer fabric that makes you feel happy just wearing it
These two points.
For an item to remain a long-lasting staple, I believe it comes down to this comfort, a silhouette that still looks great even as your body changes, and ease of use. Hooded parkas are a classic casual item, but I think this Original Lyocell Cotton Brushed Fleece Dolman Parka has also turned out to be a parka that adults can wear with real style.

Planning staff"This Lyocell Cotton Brushed Fleece Dolman Parka has a hood that stands up just the right amount, and we've eliminated drawstrings and large pockets for a clean, streamlined design. Its biggest feature is that the seam allowances are minimal, so the parka gently follows the body's curves, creating a relaxed look that suits adults well. The body of the parka is made from a single large piece of fabric, so unlike a typical parka, there are no seams at the shoulders or armholes. This is one of the updates for this version. As a result, there are fewer places where seam allowances touch the body, giving it a smooth feel to wear—and even where the ribbing meets the sleeves and hem, there's no bulkiness."
"We've used the dolman sleeve style that was so well received last time. It's by no means an unusual or flashy design. The shoulder area is roomy but has no seams, keeping it clean, while the sleeves are smart without any bunching. It's precisely because this is a casual item that these subtle adjustments to the fit make such a big difference in the overall impression—something I've come to appreciate all over again."
"The pockets are the same as last time—pockets that don't look casual. They're designed to satisfy both practicality and style."
Outer side
ZUTTO Designer"I'm so happy to be able to introduce another original parka this year. The last parka was introduced during the fall/winter season, so it had a fluffy inside and an outer fabric blended with dropped fibers from extra-long staple cotton, giving it a vintage-like texture. This time, since we're introducing the parka during the slightly restless days of spring, we chose a brushed fleece that's fluffy on both the outside and inside. It feels amazing—honestly, when we made the sample, I wanted to keep petting it forever."
The inside has an even fluffier brushed finish
"The material for this parka, which perfectly fits words like 'plump' and 'pillowy,' is a double-brushed fleece knitted using soft cotton and lyocell (a regenerated fiber) yarn. It has such a distinctive three-dimensional feel that it calls to mind fleece knitted on the rare 'tsuri-uraga' machines found only in a handful of places in the world. The key point this time is that it's brushed on both sides—the outer surface is plump and smooth, while the inside is fluffy, with a texture so pleasant you'll want to bury your face in it."
"Because it looks so three-dimensional when worn, you might think it's a heavy, thick parka, but it's actually a medium-weight fleece. We chose just the right thickness so it won't get too hot as the weather gradually warms up. Rather than a casual parka you'd throw on without a second thought, I think it's turned out to be a high-quality parka you'll want to treat gently and with care."
This Lyocell Cotton Brushed Fleece Dolman Parka comes down to about hip length on our model, who is 162cm tall. It's neither perfectly fitted nor too oversized, making it a great match for both skirts and pants.
After all, when you wear a parka, it's usually not for occasions where you need to stand up straight and look sharp—it's more for times when you can relax a little, like driving somewhere, unwinding at a café, or going out to eat with kids or pets. I think it's an item you reach for most when you want to feel at ease.
Being cramped is out of the question, so many people deliberately buy a larger size, or choose men's sizing, when they want a roomy parka. But length becomes an issue when they do. While a larger size makes the shoulders and sleeves comfortably loose, the body length also becomes longer, leaving you with excess fabric—and as a result, the overall silhouette can sometimes end up looking a bit dowdy.
Pants: 2-tuck tapered trousers
This time, the parka's body length is approximately 63cm. In the end, we kept the same length as the previous version, which was well received, but by using a medium-weight material, we've achieved a silhouette that falls in a clean, straight line. Perfect as a light outer layer in early spring or early autumn, and equally ideal as something to throw on while relaxing at home.
We've prepared two colors: OATMEAL and NAVY. Both are classic, foolproof colors that go with any outfit and blend in naturally.
