This shoe brand is made in Kurume, Fukuoka, the home base of MOONSTAR, a long-established Japanese shoe manufacturer. PRAS shares traditionally inherited shoemaking techniques with the world, offering sneakers that feel like tools, built on the strength of their manufacturing methods and materials. They pair easily with any outfit, and look even cooler with a bit of wear, giving off a well-worn, effortlessly stylish vibe.
At ZUTTO, these have been a long-time favorite for 10 years running. Made using a last shaped for Japanese feet, they are relatively wide across the width with a higher instep, giving a simple sneaker with a natural, comfortable arch that fits the foot well. The canvas used for the upper is Kojima canvas, made in Kurashiki, Okayama, a region that produces 70% of Japan's domestic canvas. This plain-weave canvas, woven from twisted cotton thread, is breathable and durable, and develops character the more it's used—truly like a well-loved tool.
Made using the labor-intensive vulcanized construction method, which takes about twice as long as ordinary sneakers to complete, these shoes carry the warmth of a craftsman's handiwork. This makes them all the more rare, as it's said that not a single company remains in America—where this method was originally invented—still using it today.
While PRAS sneakers see new colors and minor updates each year, the basic silhouette remains largely unchanged. This is proof of just how complete and refined this sneaker design already is.
In spring and summer, we tend to wear brighter colors and patterns more often, making simple shoes easier to coordinate with our outfits. With a shell-motif toe and a subtle red stitch at the heel, this is a simple, versatile design that becomes a trusted go-to pair. And since frequent wear means more sweat and dirt, you'll likely need to care for them more often—but according to the brand, washing is actually the key to making them last longer. Washing tightens the weave of the canvas upper, helping it last relatively longer than if worn without washing. The more you wear and wash PRAS sneakers, the more character they develop, making them shoes you'll grow to love even more.
With sneakers you've worn a lot, the area around the eyelets where the laces pass through can sometimes develop discoloration that doesn't come out easily, even with care. To help with this, we're also offering a replacement lace gift campaign.

Changing how the laces are threaded or switching up the color gives the shoes a different impression.

The red SSS embroidery on the tongue is also a cute touch. Each pair is hand-painted, giving these sneakers a distinct handcrafted feel.
This SHOE LACE gift campaign also includes items from the DECK series.
The DECK series stands out for its distinctive collaborative design with SUNSET CRAFTSMAN CO. The painted sections resist dirt more effectively than canvas, making them surprisingly practical. Those who favor simple, understated clothing will find these shoes add a stylish touch underfoot. Note that compared to the SHELLCAP LOW, this style uses a narrower last, so we recommend sizing up by one size. For those with wider feet, if you'd choose a 23 in the SHELLCAP LOW, we suggest going up to a 24 for the SHELLCAP DECK. Also, the complimentary laces are 100cm, which is longer than needed for the DECK series—feel free to try different lacing styles or use them with other sneakers you own.
Enjoy your outings in spring and summer with PRAS sneakers—wear them often, care for them well, and make them a long-loved part of your wardrobe.
Finally, let's talk about care.

【After wearing】
・Use a shoe brush to easily remove dust
・If the rubber toe cap is dirty, wipe it with a damp cloth
【When there's noticeable dirt】
Vulcanized sneakers can be washed with water.
1. Remove the laces and soak the shoes in water or lukewarm water.
2. Wash with shoe detergent or a mild neutral detergent, using a brush or toothbrush
to remove stubborn dirt from particularly soiled areas.
3. Rinse thoroughly.
4. After spin-drying, shape the shoes with newspaper and dry them in a well-ventilated shaded spot.
The key is step 3, rinsing. Be sure to rinse thoroughly, as leftover detergent can cause staining. For step 4, always dry the shoes in the shade, never in direct sunlight.

There are many canvas sneakers on the market that should avoid being washed with water, because the adhesive used to join the shoe's parts can dissolve, or the canvas fabric itself may be vulnerable to water and deteriorate as a result.
PRAS sneakers, however, are made using the vulcanization method: uncured rubber is sandwiched between the shoe body and the sole, then placed in a special kiln where heat and pressure are applied along with vulcanizing agents such as sulfur to cure the rubber. This process bonds the canvas and rubber sole—two very different materials—firmly together into a single, unified structure. Thanks to this construction, you can wash these sneakers thoroughly and enjoy them for years to come.
