Even our staff look forward each year to the new arrivals of INOUI EDITIONS stoles, wondering what designs will appear next. What supports their charm is the beauty of patterns that resemble paintings, brought to life in fine detail by India's exceptional craftsmanship. These are stoles perfectly suited to a playful, grown-up sense of style.
Each stole expresses a worldview that feels both familiar and entirely new, carrying the theme of an invitation to an imaginary journey. The motifs are eclectic—just as red and yellow paint blend to create orange, nature, streets, and history are playfully mixed together, aiming to surprise and delight those who see them.
At INOUI EDITIONS, a mode of expression—such as intricate lines, cut-paper art, watercolor, or graphic design—is decided first, and from there, everyone freely sets their own theme within that technique to create the design. To bring each theme to life, a variety of materials such as wool, cotton, and silk, along with carefully chosen colors, come together to form a single stole.
The design process takes place around a table, with the whole team working together, and the original design is hand-drawn. Depending on the level of detail, completion can take anywhere from one to three weeks. Each design is composed of about four colors, and it takes more than 50 rounds of trial and error to complete.

To achieve this level of intricate detail, India's traditional handcraft techniques are essential. The coloring is done using silk screening, and the method by which the final design gradually emerges layer by layer is carried out entirely by hand by skilled artisans. Even the position of the frame is adjusted to the millimeter—an incredibly meticulous process.
From here, let's look at INOUI EDITIONS by mode of expression.
・Intricate designs with fine lines
A touch that retains the delicacy of the original hand-drawn illustration, true to the brand's character. The texture of an animal's fur and its sense of dimension are expressed through fine lines, finished with crisp, vivid coloring. You can truly sense the fine handiwork of Indian artisans here.
A design in which architectural ornamentation is rendered in fine lines, with shadows expressed not through color but through etching. The astonishing precision of the detail is made possible only by a printing technique free of any bleeding.

This one also expresses dimensionality through etching. With its crisp, vivid coloring, the fine-lined, intricate design makes a striking impression even when wrapped around the neck.
・Soft designs reminiscent of watercolor painting
A touch that expresses the bleeding of color as if it had actually been painted directly onto the stole, while also conveying the softness of the fabric. You can enjoy a rich range of colors, and the piece takes on a natural impression when wrapped.
Wool Stole ARCHIVED (CHATOU WINTER NUDE)
A design where soft outlines and bleeding effects are expressed, reminiscent of watercolor or perhaps pen-and-ink drawing. While the landscape is rendered softly, don't miss how the two animals are depicted sharply and precisely, their fur expressed in fine lines. CHATOU WINTER NUDE is fascinating for the way these two contrasting touches blend and harmonize.
A design that depicts realistic sea creatures using color alone, without any outlines—a piece that stirs curiosity and makes you want to unfold it to see the whole pattern. This stole is especially perfect for those who want to enjoy the stylish appeal of color.
・Expressive designs reminiscent of marker drawings
Pooling marker ink creates a pop finish, expressing the worldview of artist PEPO MORENO. It can be worn with a crisp, vivid coloring and a bright, casual impression.
It's remarkable how not only realistic marker lines but even the streaky, hand-painted look are expressed. PEPO stands out even among INOUI EDITIONS' collection—when wrapped around the neck, its colorful hues brighten up any outfit.
・Abstract designs reminiscent of cut-paper art
Unique colors and motifs express the brand's distinctive character. The geometric patterns are striking and carry a certain modern atmosphere.
A design where flat colors and geometric patterns express each bird's individuality like a mural. The precision with which each species of bird can be identified using only the minimum necessary colors and patterns, along with the charm in their expressions, reveals INOUI EDITIONS' deep affection for animals in this piece.
One of the great things about INOUI EDITIONS is how completely different the expression can be when the scarf is wrapped versus when it's spread out. Looked at as a whole, it might be a tiger in its natural setting, but depending on how it's shown, it can become an animal print or a botanical print—these are stoles whose wrapped appearance you can't help but keep noticing. With their gender-neutral designs drawn from animals and nature, they can be enjoyed regardless of gender, making them a wonderful gift as well.
The reason INOUI EDITIONS is so devoted to stoles is that "within a single piece, you can express the feelings you want to convey." To get closer to that spark of inspiration and its appeal, we spoke with the maker.

Q: When do you feel inspiration coming to you?
A: Mostly from the internet, books, museums, and travel. Inspiration often comes to me while discussing ideas with suppliers at the factory, brainstorming, reading magazines and books, or while traveling.
The maker says inspiration can strike at any moment in daily life, not just these. It seems that this rich creativity is, surprisingly, supported by things close at hand.

Q: Many of INOUI EDITIONS' designs feature lovable animals—how are the animals chosen?
A: Cats, in the broad sense of feline creatures, are the animals that appear most often in our collections. From there, we sometimes branch out to decide on new animals.
INOUI EDITIONS' stoles, with their vivid animals, invite you into a world of imagination. The story woven into each piece takes on an even richer expression depending on the personality of the person wearing it. The distinctive worldview created by meticulous handwork and free-spirited imagination is sure to bring new discoveries every time you wear one.
