What we value when selecting men's wear at ZUTTO is
durability and a timeless design that
can be worn and loved for years without growing tired of it, along with
a story that, once you learn it,
makes wearing the piece all the more enjoyable.
These are items that become more and more your own the more you wear them—
we've picked out some classic staples
and are introducing their stories along with coordinate ideas.

ーTOPSー
<The all-purpose white shirt>
The white shirt is a versatile item that
can create either a polished look or a relaxed one.
This one is made by HAVERSACK,
a Japanese fashion brand.
Viewing clothing as a tool for dressing the body,
the brand considers both its beauty as an independent form,
and how it appears once it comes into contact with
the human body. Clothes conceived from these two perspectives
draw out the full appeal of both material and pattern.
The appeal lies in the shapes born from classic design and careful stitching,
and while these are not ornate garments,
they pursue a level of finish that makes you want to stop and look closely.
The material used is a cotton-linen leno cloth that
can be worn comfortably even in hot weather.
Because leno cloth is woven with small gaps in the fabric,
air passes through the shirt, keeping it cool and refreshing.
The front round tail, often seen on vintage pieces,
looks good even when the shirt is worn untucked,
so a single shirt can be styled in a variety of ways.
<A long-lasting cotton jacket>
A cotton jacket, also made by HAVERSACK.
It's a single-breasted, three-button style, a signature popular design from HAVERSACK.
It has a light, half-lined finish suited for summer wear.
The fabric is an indigo-dyed seersucker
originally developed by the brand.
It's a summer-appropriate fabric with a bumpy, uneven surface.
This unevenness reduces the area of the fabric that touches your skin,
creating a structure that feels cool to wear.
And on top of the coolness, it also has the advantage of resisting wrinkles,
which is a nice bonus.
<A T-shirt with a pocket>
A simple T-shirt with a pocket.
White goes with anything, so
you can grab it without hesitation whenever you're heading out.
This one is made by FRUIT OF THE LOOM,
a long-established American underwear maker.
Founded in 1871 in Kentucky, USA,
it established itself as a top brand in the print T-shirt market.
It has long been woven into the American lifestyle,
and there's hardly anyone who doesn't recognize its fruit logo.
In its home country it's such a classic brand that, alongside Hanes,
it's referred to as one of America's two great T-shirt makers.
ーBOTTOMSー
<Chino pants for on and off duty>
Basic, easy-to-wear chino pants.
Depending on the top and accessories you pair them with,
they're a convenient item that works for both on and off duty.
These are made by the British fashion brand
Nigel Cabourn.
Based on the designer's own vast and highly refined
vintage collection, built up over many years,
the brand's pieces are created in a way that
keeps the lineup free from the sway of trends.
With a concept of "the sense of value you arrive at
after consuming many things and experiencing many things,"
and "something that never changes,
beyond tastes that waver with trends and moods,"
this is a brand for people who keep seeking out the real thing.
The material used is extra-long-staple cotton with long fibers.
This yarn is then woven at an even higher density,
and the fabric is given a cold mercerizing treatment,
which brings out sheen, crispness, and strength,
resulting in an even sturdier feel.
Because the fabric is so densely woven,
it's sewn carefully and slowly.
<The classic indigo color>
Indigo-colored denim, unswayed by fleeting trends and loved for a long time as a classic.
This denim is based on the standard five-pocket style, with
the design deliberately pared down as much as possible.
These are made by the British brand
Universal Works.
The designer, David Keyte,
grew up in a working-class household
with a father who ran a bakery, and
he started the brand out of a desire to offer
quality fashion that would be practical and accessible
to many people, yet never merely mass-market.
His father's workwear, and
the dressed-up style he wore on weekends—
combined with the influences that emerged in the 1980s as subculture,
The sports and music that influenced him,
By fusing over 30 years of experience accumulated in the fashion industry
working with brands including Paul Smith,
the collection takes on a modern feel.

They come one-wash, giving them a soft feel that fits the body comfortably.
Made in Portugal using old looms
that are now rarely found in Europe,
these use a selvedge denim fabric,
inspired by American and Japanese vintage denim.
Unlike denim fabric that fades vertically,
this fades very slowly, so it retains its refined look
and can be worn for a long time as a result.
ーSHOESー
Suede slip-ons that feel great against bare feet.
With tassels attached, they can be worn casually with bare feet,
or paired with sharp bottoms for a more polished look.
They work well either way.
These are made by JOYKS, an
Italian brand.
Founded in Italy in 1940, it's a
factory specializing in the long-established sacchetto construction method.
Sacchetto means "small bag" in Italian,
and refers to a method where a cushioned insole that absorbs impact when walking
is sewn together with the upper to form a bag shape,
which is then fixed to a wooden last to complete the shoe.
Since there's no insole board, the shoes are light and soft to put on,
and the sole has excellent flexibility and springs back well,
moving supplely with the foot to fit it naturally.
chausser Men's Cordovan Shoes NA
Compared to black or brown leather shoes,
these cordovan shoes give a lighter impression
and are easy to coordinate with outfits for the warmer season.
These are made by chausser, a Japanese
shoe brand.
Maeda Yoichi, chausser's designer,
was influenced by his father, a custom shoemaker,
and had a longing for shoemaking from a young age,
entering the shoe industry early in life.
After working in various roles to bring shoes to people,
he learned shoemaking through product planning and started the brand.
Each pair is carefully made with the aim of creating "shoes you can wear for 30 years."
The soles can be resoled through care and repair,
and they're made using the Goodyear welt construction method, which allows for long-term use.
They use cordovan, a type of horsehide,
making them a pair you can enjoy breaking in as they age into an amber color over time.
