For those who handle most payments with credit cards or electronic money,
it's still difficult to go completely without cash.
There are still plenty of shops where cards aren't accepted,
and there's always the unexpected situation of finding your e-money balance has run out.
That's why many people choose to carry a minimum amount of bills and coins just in case.
For those in the "mostly cards, a little cash" camp, we recommend
using a separate card case and coin case.
Rather than carrying a bulky wallet, using compact cases each
dedicated to a specific function lets you travel light.
Even if it's not an everyday occurrence, there are plenty of times you'll head out with a small bag—
a party bag, or a formal bag for a wedding or other occasion—
when you need a wallet small enough to fit inside.
Even for those who still want to carry a proper wallet,
when carefully selecting what to bring for a given occasion, having a compact
wallet on hand is a great option.

It opens up wide, letting you see the contents clearly at a glance.
This is the classic "coin case," designed primarily for storing coins.
And there's the card case—not limited to just holding business cards, but also
bringing together credit cards and the transit IC cards you use every day.
Thinking about how to combine a coin case and a card case, each focused
on a single function, is part of the fun.
■A leather combination that also suits business settings

Card case: With no gusset, it's thin and can be carried neatly.
Coin case: Made of firm leather that doesn't go soft, and is easy to take things out of.
This is a card case and coin case combination matched in brown-toned leather.
With its crisp, tailored look, it can be used comfortably even in business settings.
This card case, with no gusset and a slim, sleek profile, gets a nice accent from the red stitching along its edges.
Its triangular flap sets it apart from typical card cases,
and when you open the flap, the interior lining uses vividly colored fabric,
pulled together with a distinctly French color sense, making it an elegant card case with excellent design.
Inside, it can hold about five credit cards,
and the pocket on the back can hold a transit IC card.
Even for those who primarily pay by card, carrying cards loose in a pocket
risks losing them, so slipping them into a compact, gusset-free
card case like this one lets you enjoy both peace of mind and a sleek profile.
The coin case is from the Italian brand Il Bussetto.
Its defining feature is, without question, its rounded form.
It's a size that fits snugly and adorably in your hand,
yet thanks to the case's rounded shape, it holds more coins than you'd expect.
When you use it, sliding the coins along the inside of the lid makes the contents instantly visible.
You can hand over just the coins you need in one smooth motion.
So as not to lose the natural texture inherent to the leather, the surface (grain)
isn't coated any more than necessary.
Because of this, the oils from your hands bring on natural aging the more you use it,
deepening its luster and color over time.
■Have fun mixing materials and colors freely

Card case: A bifold type with excellent card storage capacity
Coin case: A gamaguchi (clasp-frame) type, a superb piece that makes contents easy to see
A gamaguchi from Marukawa Shoten, beautiful in its aizome (indigo dye) color and woven pattern.
With its rounded shape and charmingly angled clasp, this is
an original gamaguchi design from Marukawa Shoten.
Along with the satisfying "snap" of the clasp,
this gamaguchi opens and closes easily with a single touch,
and its ease of use is part of its appeal.
Once filled with coins, its plump, rounded form is undeniably charming.
Made using Matsusaka momen fabric, carefully woven,
it finishes Japan's traditional beauty with a modern touch.
It evokes a sense of nostalgia while still fitting seamlessly into contemporary life.
You can also enjoy how the shade and texture of the indigo dye change the more you use it.
A card case from SONNENLEDER with six pockets.
It's designed so cards can be inserted in either a vertical or horizontal orientation,
allowing you to organize credit cards, commuter passes, key cards and more, sorted by use.
Also, when opened, the pocket on the left side is larger than the one on the right,
so you can also store things like tickets,
making it an even more versatile card case.
A card case with multiple pockets like this one has the advantage of
letting you keep business cards tucked in alongside your credit cards.
Even if you carry a separate business card holder apart from your card case,
haven't you ever accidentally forgotten it on your way to meet a client?
To avoid panicking in such a moment, if you keep a few business cards tucked
into your card case as well, you can use it in place of a business card holder
and greet people smoothly.
Even if you kept your cards in your wallet, you can't very well pull them out
from your wallet at the moment of exchanging business cards.
■Casual, and formal too

Card case: A magnetic closure gives it a neat, streamlined look.
Coin cases: the casual type with striking stitching.
This CI-VA coin case gets its character from the bumpy bora texture on the leather surface.
The leather has been worked by hand-kneading to achieve both softness and lightness.
Since it's made from nume leather, changes in color and sheen over time are easy to notice,
making it perfect for anyone who wants leather they can "raise" and develop through use.
The leather is thick and substantial, so even when you fill it with plenty of coins,
it holds its shape well—a point that's sure to please.
The oversized hand stitching, which also serves as a design accent,
is a technique only possible thanks to the skill of CI-VA's craftsmen, who are accustomed to working with the hard, thick leathers used for hunting gear.
It gives the case a casual feel—something you can carry without a hint of pretension.
Inspired by the design of Japanese business card holders,
this is a card holder from bellroy.
It's a bi-fold card case with a magnetic closure,
so there's no worry of it flapping open inside your bag and spilling its contents.
The exterior is simple, but when you open it, the interior reveals leather in a different color from the outside,
which serves as a subtle, well-balanced accent.
It can hold about 8 credit cards or 20 business cards.
It would be smart to keep your credit card and transit IC card on one side,
and folded bills on the other.
There are small notches cut into both ends of the pockets, which help make it easy to take cards in and out smoothly.
This kind of attention to fine details of usability is truly impressive.

The ZUTTO original coin case is truly an item designed for people
who mainly pay with credit cards.
This is also a coin case that opens wide, making the coins easy to see from above.
On the back, we've added a pocket to hold cards.
It can hold a total of 2 cards—one credit card and one transit IC card—
which is enough for some people to get through daily life with just this one item.
What we focused on was the size. We made it as small as possible,
just barely large enough to fit the cards, prioritizing compactness.
We aimed for a size that fits in a pocket, as well as in the inner pocket of most bags.
The leather we chose is a type called ELBAMAT, made by TEMPESTI.
We chose this leather because, compared to others, it shows the effects of aging especially vividly.
Especially if you love leather, watching it change over time
makes you want to use it with even more care and affection, doesn't it?
The stitching, which starts out the same color as the leather, becomes more of an accent as the leather darkens with age.
The metal fittings also take on a more mellow gold tone the more they're used,
developing a settled, mature look together with the leather.
We made this piece with an eye toward how it will look after years of use.
The Il Bussetto L-shaped zip wallet has a natural sheen that suits both casual and business settings.
It's a clever wallet that, while compact, can hold coins, bills, and cards.
There are two card pockets on the outside, so you can easily take out cards
without even opening the zipper.
Open the smooth zipper, and you'll find a leather pocket that acts as a divider—use it to hold coins,
fold bills in half to fit compactly,
or use the two sides of the divider separately, for bills on one side and receipts on the other.
It really has the storage capacity of a mini wallet.
The L-shaped zip wallet is made from high-quality Italian leather.
It's processed using traditional, natural Italian methods,
with a commitment to using natural materials for the tannins, dyes, and adhesives alike.
The leather is stretched over a wooden mold and then joined together, which allows it to naturally conform to your hand
while also giving it a sturdy construction that can withstand being opened and closed many times over.

Since card cases and coin cases are carried around every day,
stains and loss of shape are things worth keeping an eye on.
To keep enjoying a favorite piece for a long time,
let's go over some care tips.
■ To prevent loss of shape
・Don't overstuff the contents.
Especially with leather, it gradually "remembers" the shape it's kept in,
so if it's always packed full, the edges of coins and cards will press against the leather,
causing certain areas to stretch out or develop wrinkles.
・Give it a rest regularly.
On days you're not heading out, take everything out periodically and
give your card case or coin case a day to rest.
■ Leather care
・If you notice stains
Since it's constantly bumping and rubbing against other items in your bag or pocket,
it can pick up dirt or even color transfer from other objects.
If you notice any stains, wipe them off with a leather cleaner.
・Moisturize to prevent and repair damage
When leather dries out, it becomes prone not only to cracking but also to scuffs and scratches.
Once a month, apply a leather moisturizing (nourishing) cream to keep it supple.
At that time, it's best to empty out all the contents first, so you can apply the cream evenly.
