Many people have experienced their toes getting pinched and throbbing with pain after walking a long time in heels, or feeling their feet swell by evening so the shoes suddenly feel too tight across the width. The MUKAVA line, whose name means "comfort"

This is chausser's shoe line named MUKAVA, a Finnish word meaning "comfortable" or "pleasant."
 

chausser makes a variety of leather shoes designed with comfort in mind, but since they are all built on a leather-sole foundation, those unaccustomed to leather-soled shoes may need time to break them in. The MUKAVA line was devised to fit the sole of the foot more gently right from the start, using a rubber outsole paired with an insole made by laminating cowhide with a low-resilience, antibacterial and odor-resistant sheet—giving the shoes both cushioning and grip.

 

Thanks to the rubber outsole, these are shoes that even those who normally find leather soles difficult can wear comfortably. The MUKAVA line is also made in a way reminiscent of Finnish design—simple and functional, making the most of its materials' characteristics. Not too formal, it's also easy to pair with more casual outfits.

Inner Wedge Sole Plain Pumps

The MUKAVA Inner Wedge Sole Plain Pumps, custom-ordered by ZUTTO, are made with a deeper instep than typical pumps, so they don't slip off easily, and the fatigue that often comes with wearing pumps has been resolved. They truly deliver comfortable pumps.

With a rounded toe and a form that curves smoothly upward toward the heel, these pumps make the ankle and calf look slim and stylish once you slip your foot in. The heel is an inner-heel design in which the wedge heel is wrapped in the upper. At about 4.5cm, the heel height is set neither too high nor too low, and thanks to the deep instep of the upper and the wedge design, in which the entire sole touches the ground, you can walk with stability.

The interior is also fully leather-lined, a full leather lining throughout. A low-resilience cushion insole is placed where it touches the sole of the foot, so with every step you can feel a softness that a leather sole alone doesn't offer. The outsole uses Vibram soles. Known for their high grip, Vibram soles provide excellent traction and make walking easier.

And a piece of elastic fabric set into part of the opening helps with putting the shoes on and taking them off. As this elastic stretches and contracts, you can slip the shoes on and off smoothly. From putting them on to walking around, these are heeled shoes that pursue comfort down to every last detail.

A soft gray for spring and summer wear

So as not to give a heavy impression during the warmer months, we chose a soft gray for the Plain Pumps. Because they have a wedge sole with no gap at the heel, the light gray tone stands out all the more, giving the beautiful silhouette a striking presence whether viewed from the front or the side.

The Inner Wedge Sole Plain Pumps can be worn in many different ways—with thin socks, foot covers, stockings, or bare feet. How you should choose your size will differ depending on whether or not you wear socks.

・My usual size for pumps, sneakers, and chausser lace-up shoes is 24cm

・Wide feet

In-wedge sole plain pumps → Regardless of whether I wear socks or not, 24cm feels too tight in width, so 24.5cm is just right.

【Staff B】

・My usual size for pumps is 24cm, and for sneakers 24.5cm

In-wedge sole plain pumps → If wearing stockings, bare feet, or thin socks, 24cm is just right.

【Staff C】

・My usual size for pumps is 23cm, and for sneakers 23 or 23.5cm

・Slightly wide feet

In-wedge sole plain pumps → Regardless of whether I wear socks or not, I choose 23.5cm. With stockings or bare feet, 23cm can also be worn, but it feels a bit too snug, so 23.5cm is the better choice.

Caring for In-Wedge Sole Pumps

Everyday Care

After wearing, brush the entire surface with a shoe brush. Brushing removes dirt and fine dust. This small extra step is all it takes to keep the leather looking beautiful.

Occasional Extra Care

Leather develops a more beautiful sheen when replenished with oil. First, wipe the entire surface with a leather-specific cleaner, then work in a small amount of emulsion-type leather cream to restore the oils.

Protecting Against Water and Dirt

Applying a waterproof spray before wearing and on a regular basis helps prevent rain and dirt from soaking into the leather. Since the in-wedge sole plain pumps are finished in a way that preserves the natural texture of the leather, please test the spray first on an inconspicuous area to make sure there is no risk of discoloration before applying it more broadly.
