Pants for late summer into autumn. A comparison report on ZUTTO's three new bottoms.

ZUTTO has released easy bottoms that fit a wide range of scenes across the changing seasons. Though they may look similar at first glance, these three types of bottoms each have their own distinct qualities. Let's organize them point by point, along with comments from staff members who actually tried them on, and help you find your favorite pair.

Basic bottoms worth buying right now.

Once the summer sales settle down, the shelves start filling with clothes in autumn hues. But what we really want right now are lightweight basics we can add to our wardrobe immediately and continue wearing all the way through autumn. So what conditions should we look for in bottoms that will serve us well from here on out?

Polished pants that look great even with a casual T-shirt or cut-and-sew top

Model height: 162cm

During the hot season, you naturally reach for breathable, lightweight T-shirts or sleeveless tops. But pairing them with casual denim pants or shorts can sometimes make you look a bit too youthful, leaving you less than excited about the outfit. For those who prefer pants for their active, easy-to-move-in qualities, we recommend pants that still look polished when worn.

Effortless enough for active summer days and relaxed autumn afternoons alike

From summer into autumn, free-size easy pants are especially convenient. All the bottoms featured here include just the right amount of elastic, so they never feel tight or constricting. At the same time, a drawstring lets you adjust the waist size. Whether you cinch it snugly at the natural waistline or let it sit lower on the hips for a more casual look, these pants let you create your preferred silhouette regardless of height or body type.

What sets these three easy pants apart from the so-called "comfortable elastic-waist bottoms" is that tucks are added along the elastic gathers, resulting in a natural, unbulky silhouette.

A relaxed silhouette combined with stretch fabric that keeps up with active scenes

Model height: 162cm

When you're walking a lot or sweating in the summer heat, thick fabrics that trap moisture are best avoided. But bottoms that are too thin can only be worn for a limited part of the season, and before you know it, they've fallen out of rotation. Another key point is having just the right amount of ease—not so tight that it clings to the skin, yet not so loose that it looks bulky. Being wrinkle-resistant and easy to care for is a welcome bonus as well.

Three easy pants you'll be glad to wear, styled beautifully

Now let's take a closer look at the shapes and fabrics of these three pairs of pants. From left: Vintage Wash Stretch Tuck Pants, Tapered Fatigue Pants, and Chino Stretch Tuck Pants.

(Left) Vintage Wash Stretch Tuck Pants

Available in 2 colors: (Left) IVORY, (Right) IVY GREY

A compact silhouette that fits true to size. The rise is on the deeper side, but the thighs are trim, so you can wear it alone or as a leggings-style layer under a dress. Vintage wash is a finishing technique often seen in denim; it makes the fabric soft from the very first wear and gives it stretch, allowing it to move comfortably with your body. The drawstring for adjusting the waist is attached on the inside of the pants, and the gently placed tucks keep the stomach area looking slim. In terms of length, those under about 160cm will find it fits just right, or may want to fold the hem slightly for an easier fit; those over 160cm will find the length hits around the ankle.

The waist can be adjusted with elastic and a drawstring (IVY GREY)

The hip pockets feature bar-tack stitching

Model height 162cm: Paired with a dress (IVY GREY)

★ Highlights of the Vintage Wash Stretch Tuck Pants

・Polished cotton fabric × a trim look around the ankles

・Medium width among the three styles

・Can also be worn as a leggings alternative

・Available in IVORY and IVY GREY, two colors that won't look too heavy even when paired with dark-colored tops

★ Comments from the staff member who tried it on

The fabric has a nice firmness to it, and it felt reassuring to wear, as if it discreetly smoothed out the shape of my legs, which I'm a bit self-conscious about. I imagine the versatile IVY GREY will be the popular choice, but personally, I'd love to choose the refreshing IVORY as an alternative to white pants. With true white bottoms, I always worry about my underwear or tucked-in tops showing through, so I end up only wearing outfits I know for certain won't show anything—and my styling ends up feeling repetitive. But with this IVORY, the fabric is thick enough that it barely shows through, and underwear lines are less noticeable too, so I think it'll come in handy. I love floral and check-patterned blouses and own quite a few, so I'd like to mix and match them with these pants.

(Center) Tapered Fatigue Pants

Available in 2 colors: (Left) KHAKI, (Right) NATURAL

These original Tapered Fatigue Pants let you feel the cool touch of linen along with the smooth, fluid texture of rayon.

The waist can also be adjusted with elastic and a drawstring, so these have been designed as easy pants that can be worn without stress even in the hot, exhausting days of summer. Thanks to the way the fabric drapes cleanly, they look lovely worn straight or with the hems rolled up. With a silhouette that strikes the perfect balance between casual and polished, they go well with any top or shoes.

The waist ribbon sits on the inside (KAHKI)

Model's height: 162cm. The clean, straight drop of the silhouette is beautiful.

The flap-topped hip pockets also serve as an accent that camouflages the hip area.

When it comes to summer bottoms, options like stress-free wide pants, straight-leg denim, or shorts come to mind, but tapered pants are the all-purpose choice—they flatter the shape of the legs while pairing with just about any outfit. Made from a refreshing linen-and-rayon blend fabric, these easy pants add a summery texture along with ease of movement, and it's wonderful that they still look polished even when a top is tucked in.

★Key points of the Tapered Fatigue Pants

・A slim, refined piece that still carries a hint of workwear feel

・A refreshing fabric made from drapey linen

・KAHKI and NATURAL are versatile colors that carry through into the lingering heat of early autumn

★Comments from staff who tried them on

The linen fabric felt cool to the touch, and they were very comfortable to wear. Unlike the other two pairs, since linen×rayon is the main material here, the drape has a pleasant, subtle sheen. Personally, I thought work pants might be too hot for summer, but with such a refreshing fabric, I'd want to reach for these every day. They resist wrinkling more than 100% linen would, which makes them practical too. I have no doubt they'll also come in handy during the lingering heat of early autumn!

(Right) Chino Stretch Tuck Pants

Available in 2 colors: (Left) NAVY, (Right) OLIVE *Sold out this season

These resemble the Vintage Wash Stretch Tuck Pants introduced earlier, but this pair has a roomier fit around the hips. It's an easy-to-wear piece with plenty of ease, and it pairs wonderfully with compact tops.

Below are the Chino Stretch Tuck Pants featured this time; above are the slightly slimmer Vintage Wash Stretch Tuck Pants

The chino stretch fabric used here incorporates spandex fibers, giving it excellent stretch recovery. It moves easily with the body and has just the right amount of thickness, so you can wear it with confidence.

The ribbon sits on the front. It creates a cute impression, but if that's a concern, you can tuck it in instead (OLIVE *Sold out this season)

Model's height: 162cm: Wide-legged, yet looks trim once worn (NAVY)

★Key points of the Chino Stretch Tuck Pants

・A wide-legged bottom that still looks trim thanks to the taper

・A finely balanced shape that suits both trend-driven and basic outfits

・A versatile color lineup wearable year-round except in the depths of winter. Also pairs nicely with brighter colors.

★Comments from staff who tried them on

These are wide-legged tuck pants that feel like something that should have existed but didn't quite until now. They look great with just a plain white T-shirt, but personally I found NAVY paired especially well with colorful tops. You could dress them up with heels for a more feminine look, or pair them with sport sandals just as easily. They're not as casual as denim, yet they still work well with casual tops and shoes. Personally, when I wear pants this wide, I feel like showing some arm, so in summer I'd want to pair them with sleeveless or French-sleeve cut-and-sew tops.
