Take a look inside your closet, and you'll find all sorts of items besides clothes—hats, stoles, bags—each a different size. Items you reach for often whenever you head out are easier to remember and choose if you keep them all in one spot, and it also helps keep your closet tidy. Woodlore's tie & belt hanger may seem like it's just for neckties and belts, but it's actually perfect for this kind of "all-in-one storage." It has a quality that makes you want to keep using it even after a move.
The material behind Woodlore's cedar products is redcedar sourced from Arkansas and Missouri in the east-central United States. It resembles Japanese sugi (cedar) in appearance and is extremely durable—it's even said that Native Americans once used this wood for totem poles.
The defining features of redcedar are its reddish hue and its pleasant fragrance, the kind that makes you want to take a deep breath. The scent, reminiscent of a walk through the forest, pairs beautifully with clothing and shoes. Woodlore's products are made primarily from redcedar heartwood, which allows them to make the most of cedar's characteristic moisture control, odor elimination, and natural fragrance.
The tie & belt hanger we're featuring this time has numerous metal fittings attached to a triangular redcedar hanger, and just as its name suggests, it's designed for hanging neckties and belts.
The tie & belt hanger has a total of 30 metal fittings, plus 4 hook-shaped fittings. The brass-plated fittings create a striking contrast with the redcedar, giving the piece a luxurious feel.
Not only are there many metal fittings, but they're arranged in an alternating pattern, so the items hung on them don't interfere with one another. Even with multiple ties or belts hanging at once, they won't bump into each other or slip off easily. You can arrange them as neatly as a menswear shop display.
Another notable point is the hook-shaped fittings attached at the ends. Because they curve upward, items that would slide off a bar-type fitting can simply be hung on the hook and used with ease.
This means you can hang not just neckties and belts, but also things like stoles, shoulder bags, hats, and even folding umbrellas. Since it works with anything that can be hung, you could use it as a dedicated storage spot for bags that don't fit well in the closet, or gather your stole, hat, and umbrella together in one place so you don't forget them when heading out. It also eliminates the need for a rack by the entryway, letting you store small items in a space-saving way.
As you may have noticed in the image above, this hanger also won't tip over and drop items even when something is hung on only one side. Its center of gravity is firmly positioned at the middle, and the hanger itself is built with enough width that it stays balanced unless you hang something unusually heavy. It's a clever solution to a problem inherent to triangular hangers.
As mentioned earlier, the tie & belt hanger's standout feature is its wonderful fragrance, which is especially noticeable when you first start using it. Hang just one of these hangers, and its scent will fill even a small closet. It's also nice that it has an odor-eliminating effect.
Pick it up, and you'll immediately notice how sturdy it is. It has a substantial, reassuring feel that plastic hangers simply lack, giving it a dependable quality. It's the kind of hanger you'll want to bring along and keep using in your new home, rather than throw away, even if you move.
The sanded surface is smooth, so it won't damage your precious clothing or bags. The bold wood grain is another appealing feature of redcedar. Each piece has a slightly different pattern and variation in color depth—please understand that this is simply the individuality that comes with natural wood.
Now, one thing worth keeping in mind when choosing a tie & belt hanger is its size. It's best to check the dimensions beforehand so you don't end up with something that doesn't fit your closet space after purchasing.
Here it is compared to a standard men's hanger (42cm wide). At 38cm wide, it's not especially large—closer in size to a women's hanger.
One thing to watch is the depth. Since the hanger body itself has some thickness and fittings are attached on both sides, it ends up more than twice as deep as a typical hanger. Depending on where you use it, this can be an issue—for example, if you want to hang it alongside hangers holding clothes, be mindful of the space needed. The maximum depth is about 11.5 cm.
A Slightly Smaller Belt Keeper
If your closet is on the compact side and using a tie & belt hanger feels like a stretch, the Woodlore belt keeper is another great option to consider. This hanger has only four hooks, but it's extremely compact, and can be used not just for belts but also for mini bags and stoles.
Woodlore's red cedar hangers don't require any special care, even with frequent use. That said, since they're made from natural wood, avoid using them in places with high humidity or where they'd be exposed to direct sunlight or other conditions that cause excessive drying.
The scent of red cedar will gradually fade with use. If you'd like to revive the fragrance, we recommend gently rubbing the surface with sandpaper.
