For long-lasting wear. ZUTTO's clothing alteration/remake service.

The online store ZUTTO introduces items across a variety of categories—clothing, fashion accessories, jewelry, kitchen items, interior goods, and gifts—as a place to discover "things you'll want to keep using forever."

We believe that "continuing to use one beloved item with care" allows you to build memories through that item and to think fondly of its maker—giving you an experience that goes beyond simply consuming goods.

However, what ZUTTO means by "using something forever" doesn't mean it never breaks. Physical objects will inevitably break, tear, or become damaged at some point.

And so ZUTTO believes it's important to convey the following:

"Are there maintenance methods to restore an item to better condition before it breaks?"

"If it does break, is there a system and are there parts available for repair?"

We think it's essential to share this kind of information.

Up until now, whenever a customer's beloved item broke, we've worked with the maker as much as possible to establish a repair flow. However, when it came to clothing, we hadn't yet developed a system unique to ZUTTO.

But with the establishment of an in-house atelier for clothes-making, alterations and repairs for clothing have become possible, and we've decided to launch this as a paid service for our customers.

"I'd like to shorten the hem of a skirt I bought by 3cm."

"There's a hole in a knit I own that I'd like mended."

"I'd like the hem of my denim pants taken up while preserving the aging on the hem."

We accept these kinds of repair and alteration requests for clothing items.

We're happy to work on items purchased at ZUTTO, of course, but also on items purchased elsewhere, whenever possible.

The Flow of ZUTTO's Repair and Alteration Service

1. First, please contact customer support. (support@zutto.co.jp)

Please let us know the item you'd like repaired or altered, and what kind of work you'd like done. Please also send us a photo of the whole item along with a close-up photo of the area you'd like repaired.

(Examples)

I'd like the hem of a linen skirt taken up by 4cm.

The sleeve of my denim jacket has come unraveled, and I'd like it fixed.

There's a hole in the chest area of my T-shirt that I'd like closed up.

2. Our customer support team will contact you to confirm the details.

We'll let you know the price based on the repair details, and ask that you complete payment through the dedicated alteration catalog page, just as you would when ordering a product. (Payment is by credit card only.)

3. After payment is complete, please send the item you'd like altered to ZUTTO's atelier. (Please note that shipping costs to us are the customer's responsibility.)

4. Once the alteration is complete, our customer support team will contact you. After confirming a preferred delivery date with you, we'll ship the item back. (ZUTTO covers the cost of return shipping.)

Important Notes

・If, after actually examining the item, the repair details or price need to change, we will contact you separately.

・Depending on the condition of the item, alteration may not be possible.

・Please note that once an alteration has been made, it cannot be reversed.

Examples and Reference Prices for Alterations

As we prepared to launch this alteration service, we asked ZUTTO staff members about clothing they'd like altered, and we received quite a few responses.

Hem Alteration of a Chino Skirt

Reference repair price: ¥2,800

"I felt the skirt was a bit too long, but since it was still wearable, I kept using it as is. After having it altered, though, I really felt how much easier it is to wear a skirt with a length that suits me. It was only a difference of a few centimeters, but I'm glad I had it done."

Hem Alteration of Pants

Reference repair price: ¥2,100

"I had the hem of my full-length white pants taken up by 5cm. After wearing them for a long time, the hem had gotten dirty, so cutting that part off and shortening them a bit exposed my ankles—giving the pants a different look, and I feel like I can keep wearing them."

Hem Alteration of a Dress

Reference repair price: ¥3,000

"I fell in love with this dress's pattern and mood at first sight and bought it, but it was too long for me to wear until now. Having the length taken up by 10cm means I can finally wear it! I'm so happy."

Mending a Hole in a Cut-and-Sewn Top

Cut-and-sewn topReference repair price: ¥2,100

This is a ZUTTO original mock neck long T-shirt. I love it so much that I wore it in heavy rotation last season, which seems to have caused a small hole to appear. Since the weave isn't as coarse as knitwear, mending it by picking up the threads myself seemed difficult, and I had half given up on it. If you look closely, you can tell where it was mended, but since I never wear this on its own, it's not a problem at all.

Mending the sleeve of a denim jacket

Reference repair price: ¥3,000

"The seam on the sleeve of my denim jacket had come undone, and since denim is thick, I figured a home sewing machine wouldn't do a good job fixing it, so I just left it unworn. It came back with a finish sturdy enough to withstand pulling, and I'm glad they were able to properly repair even denim."

Mending the sleeve of a sleeveless shirt

Reference repair price: ¥2,100

"The seam on my sleeveless shirt had come apart, and the seam allowance was sticking out messily. Since the fabric was smooth and slippery, I didn't feel confident I could fix it neatly myself, so I'd been meaning to send it out for repair someday. It was carefully hand-stitched with a whip stitch, and I'm happy that I can wear it again."
