Why don't you come across "Only Bowl", your own bowl that is close to your daily life?
Bowls are tableware that Japanese people have been familiar with for a long time, and they are still used in many homes. There are various bowls on the market today, but if you use them on a daily basis, you will be attached to them. However, among them, the bowl that suits you is special, and I think that your daily meal will be more fulfilling and satisfying.
This time, we have prepared an opportunity to meet such a special bowl. We will order the desired shape and color combination, and the craftsmen of the wood product workshop Rokurosha will create the only lacquer bowl in the world.
Choose the only bowl
A lacquer bowl that uses Mizumezakura for the wood and applies lacquer over it. Lacquer is the sap that comes out when a lacquer tree is scratched, and the more you use it, the more it tastes. Because it is a natural material, each person has their own personality, and no one is exactly the same. Therefore, even if the same process is performed, the time and effort required differs depending on the product, but there is no difference in the high degree of perfection, and it is still carefully made.
The process of making a bowl is the same for all painting methods up to the point of "purchasing materials in the market> shaving to the ideal shape> soaking in plenty of lacquer to fill the conduit of the wood (hardening the wood)". After that, lacquer is applied to the ground wood, and then lacquer is applied from above to increase the strength. There are about 16 steps in total. Even a single bowl is carefully made through the hands of many craftsmen, including a dough master who scrapes the dough, a base master who applies the base lacquer over and over, and a top coater who applies the finish lacquer.
We will introduce the features of each coating.
[Wipe lacquer]
By seeing the grain of wood, you can have a warm impression. Since the facial expressions of the eyes differ depending on the tree, it may be easier to feel the special feeling of having only one bowl.
- Wipe lacquer Raw lacquer: Finish by repeating the work of applying the raw material of lacquer to a bowl and wiping it off.
- Wipe lacquer Black lacquer: The raw material of lacquer is chemically changed to black by stirring while applying iron and heat. As with raw lacquer, the process of applying it to the bowl and wiping it off is repeated.
[Eye repellent]
The lacquer applied to the bowl is applied repeatedly without wiping it off, and the thick coating film makes it strong. Perfect for those who want to show the grain of wood but want a bowl that is stronger than wiping lacquer.
[True coating]
Unlike wiping lacquer, it is made by mixing diatomaceous earth or layering cloth, so it is very sturdy. Pigments are used for coloring.
This "only bowl bespoke Nabewan" is recommended for "people who used a bowl for the pot dish but felt small". It's a reasonable size, so it's also suitable for large small bowls for simmered dishes.
There are three other shapes available, so please look for the desired paint and shape and combine them.

The items of Rokurosha are carefully made one by one by the craftsmen of Marubutsu Kijiya in Sabae City, Fukui Prefecture. Sabae City, Fukui Prefecture, is known as a production center for Echizen lacquerware, which has a history of about 1500 years. The traditional techniques that have been used have been inherited. Rokurosha also inherits its traditional techniques and adds new values to everyday items.
If you don't have a lacquer bowl, please take this opportunity to consider this only bowl.
Durable lacquer ware is often chosen as a lucky charm for wedding celebrations that wish for long-term happiness. It would be nice to give it as a gift to those who are starting a new life.
Redefining the value of things
Rokurosha, a wood product workshop established by Yoshio Sakai, a Marubutsu woodworker, in Sabae City, Fukui Prefecture. Born in Hokkaido, Mr. Sakai will move to Sabae City, Fukui Prefecture when he joins a wood product manufacturer. There, I studied under Reiji Yamaguchi, a woodworker and a traditional craftsman, and learned the technique as a woodworker. After leaving the company, he refined his technique under the guidance of Mr. Masayoshi Shimizu, a traditional craftsman of Echizen lacquer ware, and in 2014 he launched a wooden workshop, Rokurosha. While inheriting the traditional technique of Marubutsu Kijiya, the concept is "redefining value", which produces products centered on wood without being particular about materials and manufacturing methods.
