The 1970s laid the foundation for all sports shoes, from basketball to running. With the vulcanized manufacturing technology of the time, sneakers that used leather for the upper did not adhere well to rubber, and it was not possible to make sneakers with sufficient durability. Cotton herringbone tape was adopted after repeated various trials to find out if it could be made more durable. By wrapping this in a belt shape and adhering it, we were finally able to obtain sufficient durability.

Asahi's BELTED series was created by discovering the design of this technique again. The leather used for the upper is a high-quality suede material with short hair. This vulcanized manufacturing method can significantly increase the strength and elasticity of the upper and sole of shoes, but it requires the hands of skilled craftsmen, so it is a rare manufacturing method that can only be handled in a limited number of factories in Japan. .. From a long-established store that supported Japanese shoe culture

Asahi is the shoe brand of Asahi Shoes, a shoe maker that has supported Japanese shoe culture for over 120 years since it was founded in Kurume City, Fukuoka Prefecture in 1892. Asahi Shoes started when the founder Tokujiro Ishibashi founded the tailoring business (sewing industry) "Shimaya", which is the predecessor of the current company, and the business was taken over by his two sons. Until then, they felt the inefficiency of the tailoring industry, which makes various products such as foot bags under shirts and trousers, and in 1907 they changed the business of "Shimaya" to "specialized in foot bags".
