STAPF was founded in 1958 by Richard Stapp in Wergl, South Tyrol, Austria. WALK, which is often used for Tyrolean folk costumes, is made with a unique manufacturing method that has been improved since its founding, and is called a specialist in fringed wool.
WALK is made by knitting the finest wool and boiling it to entangle the fibers, increasing strength and thickness. Because it is shrunk to about 40% of its original size, it is elastic, flexible, and extremely durable.
In 2017, Sebastian and Kathryn Prost, who were fascinated by STAPF's Tyrolean jacket and became fans, became the owners of STAPF, and while maintaining the production system, they made traditional Tyrolean folk costumes modern and sophisticated. I put it in my collection.

STAPF was established in Wörgl, South Tyrol, Austria. Since its founding, we have been making a fulled wool called WALK produced in Walgl in the Tyrol region. STAPF is also known as a specialist in fluffed wool, having spent decades developing its own production technology for fluffed wool, which is often used in Tyrolean folk costumes. Not only do we use only water without the use of dyes or fabric softeners, but we also continue our environmentally conscious efforts to select carefully selected materials such as the finest pure virgin wool and GOTS-certified organic cotton from Portugal.
