About the only bowl

A lacquer bowl that uses zelkova for the wooden base and lacquer is applied from above. Lacquer is the sap that comes out of the lacquer tree when it is scratched. Because it is a natural material, each one has its own personality, just like people, and no two are exactly alike. Therefore, even if the same process is performed, the amount of time and effort required varies depending on the product, but there is no difference in the high degree of perfection, and it is still made with great care.

The process of making a bowl is the same regardless of the coating method, up to the point of “purchasing materials from the market > shaving them into the ideal shape > soaking in plenty of lacquer to fill the wooden conduits (kiji hardening)”. After that, the shin-nuri process involves applying lacquer to the polished wooden base, polishing it again, and then applying lacquer to increase the strength of the wood. Even a single bowl is made carefully and carefully through the hands of many craftsmen, such as a fabric master who scrapes the fabric, a groundwork master who coats the base lacquer in layers, a topcoat master who applies the finishing lacquer, and a makie master when applying makie. It is done.

By showing the wood grain, you can have an impression of warmth. Since the expression of the eyes differs depending on the tree, it may be easier to feel the special feeling of having only one bowl.

・Wiping lacquer black lacquer: The lacquer raw material is chemically changed to black by stirring while adding iron and heat to it. Just like unrefined lacquer, the process of applying it to the bowl and wiping it off is repeated.

The lacquer applied to the bowl is not wiped off, but is repeatedly applied, and the thick coating gives it strength. Perfect for those who want to show the grain of the wood but want a sturdy bowl rather than fuki-urushi.

Unlike fukiurushi, it is made by mixing diatomaceous earth and layering cloth, so it is very sturdy. Pigments are used for coloring.

This is the color that ZUTTO specially requested for the only bowl ordering event. The color is slightly paler than true-nuri, closer to vermilion, making it a more familiar color for the dining table. This is also colored using the same method as true coating.
